Possibly a coil issue. If it has one? I have seen coils fail with temperature rise.

Wild ass guess here. Maybe place on a cookie sheet, place another cookie sheet on top. Heat in oven and add weight to top sheet as needed. Then, once flat, let it sit as it is until cool. I would start at very low temperature and increase temperature slowly until I saw movement. Then back it off a bit and wait awhile to see what happens. Oops Los_Control typed faster than me.

I have been window shopping. Looking for what I would call a Personal Luxury, Sport Oriented ride. I know better, but can't seem to stop myself anyway. Obviously no sense asking for an intervention here, I see how that works out. LOL! I like some of the Genisis models, but like everything here in nowhere land, the closest dealer is 95 miles away. Locally, within 40 or 50 miles, I have BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Audi, Cadillac and maybe a few others. Don't know if I'll buy anything but window, I mean internet, shopping is fun. Not sure how cold it got here yesterday morning. My indoor/outdoor thermometer was reading "LL" for outdoors which means below sensor range. Supposed to be good to -20F, but who knows. I do know that for the first time since installed in 2023 my heat pump auxiliary electric heat coil activated when the 3 degree step up in temperature occurred from night to day temperature setting at 7am. Didn't stay on long, actually probably the minimum run time. The heat pump supplied all heat throughout the rest of the day without issue. The programming for the aux is set that if below X outdoor ambient temp, the indoor temp is more than X degrees below Setpoint without increase for X seconds the first stage aux coil kicks on for X time. If indoor temp still doesn't begin to climb after a certain time the second coil kicks in. (don't think it did) The step up in temperature allowed this to occur. I may add a couple additional indoor setpoints to ramp this temperature up over a short period of time versus a one step increase.

-5F here this morning. Got up to 14F this afternoon. Colder expected tomorrow.

Sorry to cut in to your '49 time.😁 It was just a wild ass guess. I'll keep pondering on it. Like I could stop if I wanted to.😙 Issues like this intrigue me and I must say, you are much more patient than me. It's really hard to troubleshoot at 70 mph. Also, how is the tank vented? Maybe try running with the gas cap off, if you haven't, just for grins and giggles. Any soft fuel line that could be collapsing? Best of luck, I can't wait to see what finally fixes it.

Are you able to see your fuel pressure while it is acting up? The fact that it builds and holds pressure when the engine is off or at idle/low rpm doesn't necessarily correlate to what pressure/flow it is able to sustain after running for 20-30 minutes, has heated up and sufficient flow/pressure is needed to sustain high speed cruising. I keep going back to why does it run ok at lower speed.

I saw some ads for a paint called 'Steel It" that claims to be weldable. Never used it myself, and yes it was expensive when I looked it up. Interesting none the less.

My wife started decorating our tree today. We got stuff out of storage Friday after Thanksgiving and set up the tree (fake tree). I used to decorate a lot outside, but haven't in years. My grandson is almost three now, so Christmas is a little more interesting this year for us. The reason for the season hasn't changed, but the perspective of a child is awesome to watch.

All business, no frills, easy access to maintain, and a big butt too! What's not to love?

I don't know the thread size for the temperature probe, but I remember it was also different on my '48 230 head than my original '41 218 head. I solved it by using the '41 head on the '48 block. If memory serves me right, mine looks like the one in the picture clarkede pictured. I think, memory not so great, that the '48 head had a smaller diameter hole in the side of the head. Both were Dodge engines.

I use both methods in my '41 Dodge. I drive it like a typical standard three in the tree most of the time. If I am showing someone how it works I always demonstrate the ability to stop in gear and restart while never touching the clutch pedal. I don't think you can do it wrong, kind of the beauty of the system.
