  1. Good chuckle. Thanks for posting. Bob
  2. I have a Eagle 2 post lift in my garage. Has a floor plate so only need 9.25 feet for install, but really need 12 plus to get full lift of vehicle. My lift was $1500.00. They wanted $400 to deliver and install. I couldn't go pick up for that, so I got them to install. It's a 500 mile round trip from Virginia Beach to Greensboro, N.C. The guy that did the delivery and install was 82 years old and was a joy to work with. I am happy with the lift. It is not as heavy duty as a Bend Pak or a Challenger, but for my purposes it is just fine. Bob
  3. Where are you? Bob
  4. Randy I have experienced the same emotions and outbursts that you did on other projects. I enjoy a challange, but needs to be one that I am likely to win. Trying to source the rivets, removing old ones, and properly installing new ones would have been a whole lot worse than giving up $175.00. in my opinion. I will try to post vendor info in reference section. Thanks Bob
  5. I have a '52 Wayfarer. The hood hinge on passenger side was very sloppy which resulted in difficulty in aligning hood and also proper closure, I sent both hinges to a company in Forest, Va. for rebulid. They disassemble, clean, media blast, replace all rivets, and reassemble with sea foam lube. I am very happy with results. Hood can now be properly alingend and closes like it should. Cost was $175.00 plus shipping. Company is; Wilson Antique Car Parts 1067 Clearview Drive Forest< va. 24551 Email willie@hoodhingerepair.com Phone 434 258 2606 web www.hoodhingerepair.com May sound a little expensive, but they custom make rivets to fit any hinge, and work is guaranted. Also rebuild door hinges. They also offer powder coating. Bob
  6. My '52 Dodge uses a small allen wrench, Don't remember size. Bob
  7. When my 3 daughters were in middle school and then in early high school, I made a deal with them. They got $50 for each A,$20 for each B, Nothing for C's and they paid me $20 for D's and $50 for F's.I did'nt pay out a fortune, but didn't make an money off of them. All in all it was a pretty good incentive. They all graduated from college and are doing fine now. Bob
  8. Don, I told my 4 grand kids that I would give them $50 if they could pass a 15 problem quiz. So far 3 out of the 4 have taken the challenge and are $50 richer. I told them to call me when they felt ready. I made up a random 15 problem test and gave it to them over the phone. Times table through 12. I, like you, feel it is invaluable. Also teaching them how to read a measuring tape. Bob .
  9. Virginia Beach, Va. Bob
  10. Something seems wrong. Shows a bunch of Va. guys in the Fla, Ga. etc group. Maybe I'm reading it in correctly. Bob
  11. Dan, Philbates Auto in Lanexa, Va. Phone 804 843 9787. 16238 New Kent Hwy. I went there 2 years ago and he had approx 3000 cars. He said they had sold of about 4000 20s 30s and 40s the year before. You should call before to confirm hours. It is well worth the trip for a car guy. If you are in Quantico it is probably 50 to 75 miles south of you off I64 just of I295. Mr. Philbates and his wife ran it when I was there. They wer very old, but very pleasant people. Have fun Bob
  12. Joe, Check item 2435 at Restorations specialties. I used on my '52 Dodge. Bob
  13. Bob Thanks for your help. I jacked car up pretty high to remove jack stands. Was letting down slowly and the block I had to use kicked out and jack went under car and bent pan. Bob

  21. Bill, If u don't need the raised profile, you can try Max Merritt auto. They work on Packards and make top bows for convertibles. They have 3 widths and 2 or 3 different ends. Profile is 1/2 round. $10 per foot and $10 per end. I bought 4 pieces for my '52 Wayfarer fenders. It will bend to the round surface of the fender without kinking.. www.maxmerrittauto.com. Click on custom body moldings in middle of page. Bob
