  1. NO!...My problem is solved. Somwhere along the line it got fixed. I just don't know when or what fixed it. I am just passing along the info. for others to put in the memory bank about the fuel pressure. I know what fixed the rough run after 1/2 hour or so. It was the new coil....If it turns out I'm wrong, i will come back and let u know, butfor now these are two relatively inexpensive fixes when all elsef fails. Bob
  2. I have a 52 wayfarer. You may remember previous post where I kept losing fuel pressure. I tried new manual pump, two different elec. pumps, manual and elec. together, with and w/o regulators. Nothing fixed declining fuel pressure. Initially car would run for 15 or 18 min. and pressure would drop from 5 or 6 lbs to zero and quit. After a couple of attemps at fixing, when it started dropping I would get p/o'd and shut it off so I didn't have to reprime carbs. Then I saw a post on HAMB about a guy having similar problem. H fixed by repalcing liquid filled guage with dry. I bought a cheap Mr. Gasket dry guage and now the pressure holds at 3.5 all the time. Something I did along the way fixed the dropping pressure problem, but I don't know what. Well, now pressure is fine but car starts running really rough after about 1/2 hour. Runs excellent until this point, then starts to miss and sputter. Somewhere, either here or on HAMB I read something about coil getting hot and causing rough run. I replaced coil, and just got back from and hour drive and ran perfect. Thought I would pass these 2 pieces of info. along, as they were relatively cheap and probably not all that obvious. As info., I have 230 c.i. with Langdon hei and dual carter/webers. All the rest is stock. Hope this helps somebody. Bob
  3. I just rebuilt one of mine in 52 Wayfarer....used two 5/8 and four 5/16 bearings. I went to Norfolk bearing and got a box of 10 5/8 and 65 5/16 for $8.95 per box....They wouldn't sell individually. They worked fine. Bob
  4. count me in. Bob
  5. Does the noise keep getting louder after 85 mph, or does it start to die off some? Bob
  6. I have Grundy for both my old cars.I had an accident about 1 1/2 yrs. ago that wasn't my fault. Got Grundy involved and they were very helpful in getting my issues resolved. Also, have found them to be very competitive in their pricing. Bob
  7. I really like the car. I like them chopped and lowered just because it looks good to me. There is a thread on HAMB that shows them chopping a 50 Wayfarer. I have a 52 Wayfarer I am thinking about chopping. It is already lowered 3" front and 4" in back. I also like them stock. I think if you have a car you should finish it like you want, or don't finish it all. Customs and hot rods have been around about as long as they have been building cars. If your car makes you happy, I am happy for you. Bob
  8. Check out www.haganauto.com for after market fuel doors. Bob
  9. I have a '52 Wayfarer I would like to put fender skirts on. I have checked the archives and find plenty of info. for earlier models. Several of the manufacturers list applications for 50 and 51 then skip 52 and go to 53 54. I was under the impression that 51 and 52 were the same bodies and 49 and 50 were different. I have not called any of the manufactures yet. I was hoping someone on the forum could share their knowledge about the 52 application. I think Agape are steel, and Big Jims, Fender Skirt Depot and Fender Skirt King are fiberglass. I really don' care whether they are steel of glass, but am concerned about proper fit. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks Bob
  10. Greg I think I got your drift. Is semi black the same as gray? Just couldn"t resist being a smart a$$. Bob
  11. Mike I just clicked on the site Dennis gave you and it took me 15 seconds to find the answer. It is neither gloss black nor semi black. Take Mr. Hemmingways advice and look to see how easy it is. Bob
  12. Would love to see photos. Thanks Bob
  13. It is the spindle that is moving up and down. I will pick up some more shims and use them to take up the slack. Thanks for the replies. Bob
  14. I had to remove my pass. side spindle to replace it due to bad bearing that got so hot it welded itself to the spindle. I then went to the driver side to make sure everything looked ok and discovered the the king pin has about .040 up and down play in it. How many shims do you typically use to get the pin snug?Is there a spec. for the play, or is "snug' the proper tolerance. I couldn't find specs in the manual or on the forum. Thanks Bob
  15. Boxer...I know what u are getting at....the car getting the small block was supposed to remain basically stock according the many post on this forum. Bob
  16. I have dropped uprights on my '52 Dodge Wayfarer. I used Plydo disc brake kit. It works fine with stock wheels. I didn't know about Rustyhope when I got the Plydo kit. I used a dual resevoir master cylinder from ECI. Worked ok, but I had do some cutting and welding to get it to work. I think thats because the car had fluid drive, and the cross member is farther back. Bob
  17. Flatlanders Hot Rods in Norfolk . Talk to Aaron. 757 440 1932. Bob
  18. Royal Silver in Norfolk. He does great work, but you definetly pay for what u get. Bob
  19. I'll be there. If I can get the 52 dodge going I'll bring it. If not I'll bring my 58 ford prostreet car. I'll look u up when I get there. I'm in the Rattlin Bones car club, and another member, Johnny Rousey is is a big part of making the show happen. If any of you other guys can make it, I know you will enjoy yourselves. Bob
  20. Try uglytruckling.com Bob
  21. Supposedly tommorow, April 13 is the last day for the old ebay motors....The old one was good to look for parts in general, but the new one sucks. Hopefully it won't take them too long to realize this. Bob
  22. Has anyone had success with the "new" ebay motors. On the old site I searched 1949 thru 1954 dodge parts, and there were anywhere from 1200 to 1800 listings. No matter what I try on the new site, I can't get anywhere near that number. Any ideas how to work their "new and easy to use" site. Thanx Bob
  23. I have the Plydo kit on my '52 Dodge with original 15" wheels. No clearance problems at all. Have a Ford explorer rear end with disc brakes and had to do a very small amount of grinding on caliper on one side only. Bob
  24. The ones I see on ebay from plymouth cafe don't give 51 52 as a application year. Good to know on ford trim rings. Thanks for ur responses. Bob
