  1. Ops. The body shifted last week. Today I lifted it and all is back on track.
  2. Ggdad, Its very possible that Julie already, at times, pulls Brent's chain! LOL
  3. I wonder what the molasses' soak would do to it? I understand it removes rust, but I don't know what it does to paint. Directional colored US 80 shields found in Arizona during the 1950s. The brown signs stood for eastbound with blue standing for westbound.
  4. Ignition switches, Brent, that is why I have a toggle switch. I have the ignition switch in the dash, but it's not connected to anything.
  5. If I recall, my '50 Plymouth had a knock out plug on the driver's side.
  6. 1) a great ride on a quarter horse cutting out an animal from a herd will get you a similar rush, 2) things like this temp me to Don's conclusion. No one hurt and no apparant damage. A cherry picker will lift it back up.
  7. I have an ash tray, it had the knob which said ASH on it. I traded it to Desoto Dave down under, for a driver side door lock. Good trade. The tach is my doing.
  8. The bed is complete, just make your own sides.,
  9. DESOTO, exactly my sentiments. I like this phrase, not mine "the car was built for me by me!" Or, "I didn't paint it because I didn't know which color you would want"! Currently I'm watching the leather sofas for sale on Craig's list!!
  10. I'm moving forward again. Been doing small items in my shop until noon. Now back to the chassis to finish the brakes, etc. Sometimes luck is unknowingly with us. Found the rear 4X4 had moved!!! Now there is a stablizug jack under there. I hope to have chassis and frame together Tuesday.
  11. I enjoy your thread. Yesterday I was out with my truck, behind me I heard. "Wow, a Dodge!" He already had his camera in hand and wanted a picture of me with my truck. FUN!
  12. On our cross country trip three years ago I met this bike at a rest stop. He was in a race from Long Beach, Ca to NYC. All the bikes were this style, which I do not know. He had broken down in Central Kansas. His wife was bringing parts from Lincoln, NE. Now that is a GREAT wife.
  13. So what were the four red buttons for, air bags?
  14. Today a Empi enthusiast on a Facebook Dune Buggy forum states this may be a frame built in Fresno, CA. It is likely a rare find, but unlikely to be a valuable one. In any case he suggested to install engine etc and get it street legal, clean and preserve the patina, the most unique part of it all, and enjoy where enthusiasts are. Someone just might want it very bad. If no one does, no problem, it will likely draw a good deal of interest as is. It will be an easy toy to tow to fun places to drive it. So there, that is what I now know and this information is only a reasonable guess.
  15. Some California growers have saved an Elberta tree for their personal peach. They ARE quite possibly the best tasting peach, but they have a very short cold storage life and a very tender skin, so they bruise very easily. When in production most were individually hand paper wrapped and packed. Darlene packed them into paper cups when she was a teenager. Kids could start packing at age 14.
  16. Don's friend drives his D24 all across the continent with success. I wonder what his maintenance program is? I'm committed to drive my truck to Indianapolis on Route 66 and give it to my daughter. When I do, I will know where every forum member is on that route.
  17. Knucklieharley, I do the same thing with my fire brand truck and people come to t also, but the only place I get trophys are at Tim's BBQ , go figure!
  18. Feel free to add to this list items that are troublesome on a long road trip Suggested tool to use: : bright flash light cotter keys fresh wet spot(s) alternator / generator / fan belt brake line connections a college auto instructor friend always checks under his vehical with a bright flash light every time he stops. He contends loose parts seem to drop when the vehicle comes to rest. He also suggested adding an alt/gen light that shines when the engine is running. I'm going to add such on my vehicles.
  19. John, well put. I'm 80 in September and have a 53 Suburban to complete.in our 100+ degree heat I've been doing bench projects so that now all that remains is to reassemble. It would be so easy to buy a new comfortable Lazy Boy and . . . . John, you and I have a lot of company and each encourages the other. So, Don take heart, we need your company.
  20. Don, I will long remember the ride with you to the BBQ two years ago. To sit and relax in the back and feel the miles go by was a great felling. That is a beautiful car, one I would love to own. Hang tight good friend, my best to you!
  21. Tim and others. It amazes me that people take any dog to a shelter much more so that they leave QUALITY dogs there. Our youngest son has adopted three great dogs, this is the third one, brought him here this weekend. He is extremely shy, cautious, leery, etc. he is warming up to me and will become my sometime traveling companion and shop dog. When we must close the chapter on one, another is waiting for a great life. Best to you.
  22. Softly wet sand that with 400 then 600 grit and you will have a beautiful deep green truck.! Do the passenger door and post the results!
