  1. Today, April 29 I will bleed the brakes, put fuel in the tank start the engine and go for a drive around the block. There still remain some small cosmetic items. I bought these heavy chrome lux rings today, set of four for $40. I already have a set of Mayflower caps. A bit of bling and a touch of red, perfect.
  2. Go to Fresno, California Craig's list. A running 218 and transmission for $400.
  3. I use a pump from Gast, works great. Since it is mounted to the frame I have it mounted on a rubber cushion. I too have a filter preceding the pump. I also have a safety dis connect via engine oil pressure, if engine kills due to accident, the pump shuts down. I got the method from Don .Coatney.
  4. This is how I have my truck. I thought the resister was to limit all after that to 6 volts.
  5. Is Playboy still on the market? Maybe have some old issues? LOL
  6. I'm reassembling the Suburban, focused only on what I necessary to drive it. Now all new switches, small investment for dependability, and all wires now are alive when the appropriate switch is activated. Tomorrow, restart the engine and confirm the alternater works, the all up front lights. Im starting to believe in myself again.
  7. Question: how old are you? If you buy that car, I guarantee you, that you will age! JM2CW.
  8. Jay Lee. I just saved your picture to my electrical page. That shows wires, cipolors, etc, TKS. I will check that against my wiring. Tomorrow I'm double checking all electrical before I lift my dash into place.
  9. My passenger side is ready to weld in. There are 2" X 3/16" flat irons to be welded under the panel to which the bucket seats mount. May not be couture but it's strong and clean.
  10. I made card board patterns and had them duplicated in 18 ga metal at a local sheet metal shop.. That saved me lots of $$ and they are not made of thin metal so much easier to weld in.
  11. Don't allow any cats by that fire.
  12. Tim, TKS, that said, I'm not going to change.
  13. if a mount is welded to the frame for the upper part of the shock, how much difference is there in handling, ride, etc.
  14. Road trips are special. Three years ago my wife and I did a Coast to coast trip. 9000 miles. Calf to Maine, Maine to Winnipeg, Winnipeg home.
  15. That blue and yellow, 36/37 Chevy panel is killer! Drove a pickup of that vintage to high school! 12 miles onevway, all gravel roads.
  16. Double wow! Can't even imagine what you paid! The rear bumper, likes of which I've never seen before, is stunning!
  17. I've been watching for a heater and found this on Facebook market place. Seller asking $21.00. I contacted him. He asked. If I would share what it would be used in, when I said, "A '53 Plymouth Suburban!", he said, in that case, the heater is free. When rebuilding, be patient. I also found a complete '53 Plymouth 218 engine with radiator and transmission fo $400. Tempted to buy it, but didn't. Good buy.
  18. Seat down. Once the panels are fitted and secured, the seat mount bars placed under the panel and a few minor issues, this will work very nice and with power adjustments will be very comfortable. A nice dark khaki rug will be a nice final piece.
  19. I enjoyed seeing the "new" vehicles, particularly the gray original patina one.
  20. I will install a dash light and an engine kill switch on the latch so that the seat MUST be locked down for the engine to run. In some ways it may be a bit of an inconvenience, but so be it. Safety first. Edit: it's a relief when it fits. The mounts will be lower when properly installed. The seat is in its most reward position, moved forward will increase the opening to the back.
