  1. I will use this thread for our summers events. Sad day today. An inebriated driver turned east bound onto the two lane west bound Hwy, possibly thinking she was on a two lane road. Within a half a mile a west bound driver pulled out to overtake a semi and the two cars collided head on, alongside the truck. One person died at the scene, others were flown to hospitals. After sitting for an hour, we turned onto a farmers field road and using farm road knowledge, we circumvented the scene and returned to the freeway half a mile beyond the scene. Traffic was still stalled as we drove away. I read that June 17 is historically the deadliest day. Of the year on our nations highways. There were two other fatal accidents in a 50 mile circle of that accident today. We fly at at noon today to Indianapolis.
  2. I really shouldn’t show my unkempt shop, but it will change when we return in late August. I crammed it all together to get both vehicles in the shop. Upon my return, the shop will get a massive cleaning and reorganization so that the 18, space wall to wall is clear. Then I will have ample working room and a two car shop. My right knee is giving out, so I have a last minute appointment with my orthopedic surgeon to get some relief. We leave this afternoon for the Bay Area, tomorrow we fly to Indianapolis, then on the 24th on to Maine. My body needs a long rest then finish it all this fall. Cheers Paul
  3. For sale, owner asking $3500. Has all the parts.
  4. Yes, yes, and yes. The calipers on the disc brakes differ so much from the OE drum cylinders that the valves are IMPORTANT. Now, without the valves there will still be braking power, but much less so. With the new soft brake i lines now available, the fitting will not be difficult. I would buy the shortest possible and keep the professional ends. New brake lines, for certain. When I discovered the new line material, I removed all the steel lines I had made and replaced them in two hours. Again the new soft lines are the only way to go. If you buy a variety of lengths, you can place where fits best and use all factory ends. Lots of way to shorten a line that is too long without having to cut it. That is a cosmetic decision. Good luck. This shows steel lines which I replaced. luck.
  5. This is a car setup,. But the back to back master cylinders is the same.
  6. I used a 98 Cherokee master cylinder and proportional valves. Bee four years no problems. But the space is VERY tight the pic shows the setup.
  7. Is this like yours?
  8. I would suspect it’s age creeping in! Old sailors never die, they just float away!
  9. Eneto, I don’t use fingernail polish!
  10. Vintage Aire has an A/C unit for the VW Beetle sedan which has a 30 hp engine. Our 218/230 engines have Round 98 hp. The cubic inch space in a truck would be less than in a VW. I’m going to research this for my B3B. Once I have the S10 T5 transmission in, it will be easy to maintain rpms to power that compressor, I am thinking. Comments Welcomed.
  11. 103 Monday, 104 Tuesday, today, 102 + until Friday. We are flying to Maine next Tuesday. That’s how we beat the California heat.
  12. Globeclassicautoparts.com i needed a pair of headlight buckets and found a great pair here. Ask for Steve. He just recently purchased a huge warehouse of parts out of Fremont Ca. and is moving them to Selma. His prices are 1/2 of Turners Auto Fresno.
  13. Partially installed the dash tonight after dinner. Light reflection changes the colors. Will look better in daylight.
  14. At this point in the closing stages, little things mean a great deal. A pair of really nice headlight buckets and rings. Very pleased, the bolts, screws Nd inside springs are in excellent shape. The dash goes in next.
  15. Even though it is possible to change that chain without removing the doghouse, I’m concluding that it be an overall easier project by removing it.
  16. How difficult is is to put in a new timing chain on a 218 without removing the entire dog house? Remove hood, radiator, fan, slightly raise the engine to remove the front engine mount, remove the drive shaft pulley, remove the cover. all that done in a hole. Can that be done from below if on a lift?
  17. I have the deluxe horn ring which I will add. They are too easy to break, so I’ve kept it under wraps. That will be the icing on the cake.
  18. It’s going to look great. TKS for the tip!
  19. I resanded and repainted the bottom half. It’s much crisper now. I’m not sure of the steering wheel. May repaint it the lighter color. I found a pair of complete headlight buckets, so now I can complete the electrical. That done, I’ll bleed the brake lines and go for a drive.
  20. With the passenger tire and the inner lower fender panel removed, this is my view.
  21. Only if you understand the metaphysical order of things!
  22. My newly painted dashboard. Same colors as the side panels.
  23. We will be in Westfield, north edge of Indianapolis June 19 - 23. Would like to meet some of you. Paul
  24. Tickets at only $11,000. Professional guides.
  25. Repair, rebuild, or restore then get AAA tow insurance, and put a list of forum members in your glove box and hit the road, fully relaxed. Don Coatney and a friend totally rebuilt the engine to a 48. dodge. They did it in three days then drove cross country from central Indiana to Yosemite. Great story. My apologies in advance if I have anything incorrect, in that story.
