  1. Oh, 4 is April, we are a month behind you. LOL
  2. I agree. The plate says 1975, but the true year is 4413. I think that is March 4, 2013.
  3. That car is loaded. It must have been upgraded for the task.
  4. If the records prove this plate came with the car, since I only have the one, will DMV require I get a new pair? And if they do, I wonder if I can use these numbers and letters on a personalized set?
  5. What have I done? Too many cars, so little time and energy.
  6. The front floor and the original bumper jack. Cool.
  7. When looking for a windshield source, I discovered the suburban and convertibles windshields are different than the coupes’.
  8. And so they should. The farther north I drive in Maine, the more I like it. The coastal towns and lighthouses are interesting, but get repetitious after a time.
  9. Does anyone in the Modesto, Ca area know of this dealership?
  10. I did a thorough inspection of the 53 coupe this morning and found: solid floors and door sills, no dents in the body, all original non cracked side and rear glass, windshield has a major pit, door and rear regulators work free and easy, no apparent bondo except the driver door, AKK side SS trim is without scratch or dent, hood ornament and center plate good, three full rim original hubcaps, original rims, overdrive, missing the front bumper, engine nice and clean, radiator no nicks. Has original radio, six volt battery, generator, starter, carb and oil Bath ain’t cleaner, and more. Only one plate. . . . I am stoked!
  11. Hey Frank, NO CATS!!! I’m going to try and start the engine: ATC in the pistons, aux fuel tank, check the points, hot battery, spray the carb with a cleaner, water in the, radiator and go for it. Maybe change the oil. Any suggestions?
  12. I brought it home today. It is so original that the tire rims have the circles on them.
  13. An old timer car salesman told me they used acetone, I’ve used it since, wash it a section at a time then warm soapy water to finish the task.
  14. Last spring I bought a VW. bug and a stash of parts for $80. And an EMPI Sportster frame for $80. Today I swapped . . . VW parts update: Report. The EMPI SPORTSTER is a 1960/61 model, mfg in Fresno, 45 miles nort of me. As a frame only worth around $1000. I have $120 in it. If it had a dependable engine,, brakes, running lights, seats and a nice paint job, then $5500 up. I have all those items. i have one partially assembled VW engine and parts to complete it and boxes of parts to build a second engine. The person I met today needs engines to rebuild, especially the older ones. So I traded him my two engines for one rebuilt ready to install.engine. That will be myengine for the EMPI. He is also interested in my VW pan “frame”. So will likely sell that to him. So did some nice trading up of my $80 investment in VW car and parts. Very lucky and fu n to do. This hobby has and is taking me to people and places that are not in any tour guide and I can drive it whenever I wish to.
  15. “chitty, chitty, bang bang” car? Who was the actor? Oo, eej, oo, ah, ah, bing bang. . . .Oh how far we have digressed!
  16. Adams, similar to the south end of a north bound donkey?
  17. I am back in California. Arrangements have been made to bring the coupe here on Friday. Then I will know what I bought. I asked the seller if I needed to bring a good set of tires. His response was no, the tires are new! Sure curious what “new” looks like. My car is like the back car! LOL
  18. I used rattle can paint over primer. Been four years plus, still nice and clean.
  19. I was very fortunate on this mishap. I was lowering one end and lost it. By lifting under the forward corner I was able to right it and get control. I was not close so it wasn’t a dangerous situation.
  20. If I had used my shop i could have used hoists which would have been much easier and very much safer. But i thought I needed the shop space to work on the frame.
  21. There are times when jack stands aren’t tall enough. I would not do ir this way again.it fell against the wall one time.
  22. Then mine is a coupe. Aside the window post, what are the other differences? The club sedan and business coupe shared the same general body details, the club sedan having a rear quarter window while the business coupe had a solidly fixed rear side window. Business coupes came without a rear seat and the option of carrying the spare tire in the trunk or rear compartment. An optional rear seat cushion could be ordered to turn the vehicle into a family car on weekend while still retaining its business capabilities during the week
