  1. No. Normal thread on both axle shafts. It is often recommended to leave the nut on loose when pulling the drums. Sometimes they come off with enough force to fly across the garage.
  2. My boss has a new Volvo that is semi-autonomous. Set max speed and following distance and it’ll pretty much drive itself. It monitors the lines on the road to keep it in the lane. It’ll get a little confused at on and off ramps sometimes, but it is kind of cool. The driver is required to maintain contact with the steering wheel every so often to it’ll start beeping to get your attention.
  3. I've seen some videos that showed how those worked. Pretty cool...
  4. It's pretty clear by the perforated dome under the cover that your filter is made for the sock type. The 1080/51080 is NOT the correct filter element for that canister. From what I can see it looks the same as my Deluxe filter. On the cover you may see stampings that state to use a JC filter element. This crosses to the 51011/1011, or the Baldwin JC405. And I will concurs with TGP that the Baldwin filters fit much better into the canisters. The Wix/Napa elements are a bit oversize and VERY difficult to get down into the canisters.
  5. A bit of a side note... I noticed the diamond shaped boss just ahead of the draft tube and didn't recall seeing that before. Then I looked as some pictures of my engine and there it was. I guess I just never noticed it. It appears to be the same shape as the fuel pump boss. Did some engines have the fuel pump mounted in this location?
  6. I wouldn't worry about it. You could also leave the wheel on the ground, with wheel chocks, and use a cheater pipe on your wrench.
  7. I don't see an OEM master cylinder in those pictures, Paul. I think you are mixing up your projects.
  8. Maybe someone rattled it on with an impact gun. It should come off, but may be kind of tight.
  9. It sound similar to when I goofed and didn’t get the spring attached properly on my points. I would experience points bounce at higher RPM’s, most noticeable in 4th gear. While that may not be your situation, I suspect something going on in your distributor. Possibly one of the small wires shorting out. Or maybe a condenser failing, coil failing, or maybe the spring broke on your points???
  10. I also converted my oil bath filter to accept a paper filter element. I then found a K&N filter element that fit even better, so now I'm set for life...
  11. The Volvo equipment that we sell and service offer an oil bath air filter as an optional Pre-cleaner in severe dust environments. The standard paper filter elements are still used, but the oil bath pre-cleans the air first. I've only seen a few that have had that option, but the standard air filters will stay cleaner much longer with that option.
  12. It is on the doors of the B1 and B2 series. I hadn't installed it yet when this picture was taken. You can see the groove in the inner door panel where the seal goes.
  13. Why start a new thread? Here's mine...
  14. LOL... We had mid to upper 50's here a couple days ago. It was nice to be outside without a jacket. A day later it was below 30. We won't see above freezing for the next week or better, according to the weather "experts". But it is December in Northeast Wisconsin... 20's will feel warm within the next few weeks.
  15. What's different about the rear bearing for a FD 23" engine? I didn't know anything about this when I built my engine 12 years ago. I haven't experienced any issues to date.
  16. LOL... I suppose that's another way to do it. The first time I came across this I didn't have the proper tool either. I found a square shank punch in my tool box that was the right size. Together with an adjustable wrench I was able to get the plug out. I now have the proper sockets. (Another excuse to buy tools ) Here's a socket at Amazon for $13 https://smile.amazon.com/SK-Hand-8-inch-Socket-16-inch/dp/B000OGYD5S/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1512564649&sr=8-9&keywords=drain+plug+socket
  17. Should be 5/16” square. You could make a tool out of a piece of key stock, or purchase a proper square socket, available at most tool venders.
  18. I believe that would be a '33-'35... possibly 1-1/2 ton or 2 ton. Nice looking truck
  19. I was looking at Dustless Blasting's site about this and they state that they use a rust inhibitor in their water to counter this problem. Something to consider... From their FAQ page;
  20. What's the size and condition of your battery cables? Was your starter checked/rebuilt along with the engine? What is the charge status of the 6v battery? If all of that is good you shouldn't need an 8 volt battery. Those are band-aid fixes for people too lazy to properly fix an electrical system. (my opinion)
  21. Yes, it should be straight.
  22. Is that like a Tail Light Warranty? When we can no longer see your tail lights, it's out of warranty...
  23. This is from a couple years ago...
  24. I copy the Direct link at Photobucket and "paste" it into my message. Haven't been limited yet that way.
  25. Mine will do 75+ with 3.73 gears, but you'd better sort out your steering/suspension issues first.
