  3. that, and the battery wires are differently sized to colors for reverse polarity
  4. first off, what's wrong with the 6 volt starter? my truck runs the stock pedal starter, running 12 volts works great! it is also much less barbaric than a inertia-drive starter and will last longer & start better on low battery. i myself would stay with the stock, but its your truck, my friend, so its up to you. either way, good luck.
  5. watch out for the little balls!
  6. i tend to venture over here for engine and electrical related issues, seeing as we share a similar engine. BTW: as far as i know, all mopar flatheads were full pressure oil.
  7. i would highly recommend the 12 volt 1conversion, i did it myself and it works great! always fires right up! the only downfall is the FUGLY alternator and the little conversions here and there.
  8. me thinks if anything needs some respect, it's the trailer!
  9. whatcha got under the hood in that old IH?
  10. i dont know how many others have had this issue, but the tube on my tailgate is rotted out, and i mean pretty much gone! does anybody have some ideas? this is also my first photobucket link, so let's see if it works... http://s1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/4153dodges/
  11. welcom back, man can we see some pics of the old beasts?
  12. i think anything over 70 and it runs is pretty much a pass, unless you are aiming for performance of some sort.
  13. this may sound stupid, but has this engine been sitting awhile? throw a little starting fluid at it and see what happens! BTW: DID YOU USE AN EXTENSION ON THE COMPRESSION TESTER? YOU VERY WELL MAY HAVE BENT THE VALVES WITH AN EXTENDER. trust me, it sucks, ALOT!
  14. okay, that took long enough!
  15. i run tubes, but that is due to my severely pitted rims. does anybody know where to get the CORRECT offset-stem tubes that dont have 3" stems? they dont sell them around here...
  16. I'm with ya on the 2-tone black & silver, use kind of a spring special pattern, but with silver. is anybody decent at photoshop here? if so, can somebody try to make a photoshopped 1/2-3/4 tonner in black silver?
  17. try vintage power wagons, or napa
  18. i would if i didnt get up yesterday morning to a flat tire... the guys at the shop literally broke the shrader valve!
  19. i finally found some decent tires for the 53' 215-85-16, used with about 75% tread left i got them installed for $85, and i LOVE not having square tires! they seem to fill the rims better, and have a better ride. i would so far recommend to anybody. will post pics later.
  20. i converted the 53' to the cherokee rear end, mostly for brakes, but the u-joints are the EXACT same for the 1/2 tonners, and the ratio comes out to almost a perfect +25% i wonder, how far back have PH owners done this?
  21. i need to find another wheel as a spare for the 53', does anybody know what size the 54-56' 1/2 tonner rims sizes were? are they at least compatable?
  22. that makes no sense, either way the coil gets power. otherwise, if it relied on the genset for coil power, it would get next to none at startup! like i said in the truck side, check the wires in the dizzy, they may look alright at first glance, but check them well, they often break after so many years.
  23. check the wires in the dizzy CLOSELY, mine broke, but looked fine at first glance.
  24. that actually looks pretty cool! now if it could still have both gauges on the driver side...
