  1. does it look like this? this is a 4x2, 1.5T i have heard of swapping the axles with something else to make a 4x4 out of it.
  2. does it appear military in design or civilian?
  3. is the dash any different? that may kinda look cool! in that case, would a PW cab fit my big 41' flatbed?
  4. that would be a front sump, thanks anyways. i could do that if i understood exactly what you were suggesting. for right now, i am debating using the truck's old one if i can find it.
  5. can you get a pic of the blower? mine was just a kinda standard motor, i found a perfect replacement in my basement! these seem to be pretty universal motors in general, but im talkin truck.
  6. BTW, Merle i found the issue with the ignition. it was just the little cloth wire for the points under the dizzy cap was smashed by the cap, making the points ground out! i almost got it running, but i think there is something up with the starter, it cranks slow on 12 volts and smokes after about 5 seconds, so il have to look into that! P.S. what was the oil i found in the intake manifold? i have never found oil like that before! has kinda an odd smell to it...
  7. i would be just hooking a garden hose up to the heater outlet on the head, like i did when i first got the truck running, but wisconsin is just a little frozen at this point, and im not running a garden hose from the basement.
  8. wouldnt you be seriously pissed if you hauled it 4 1/2 hours and put it in the truck and not be able to drive it for some odd reason? i would rather iron everything out here first.
  9. the only reason i wont use any water is because it is a little frozen here in wisconsin. we had my truck running off of the hose when we first got it going, so once it warms up outside, we will do it again. right now, we cant get to the garden hose for water anyways, its winterized, and im NOT trying to carry water upstairs from the basement.
  10. i got my engine from merle, and its almost runnable, but i need to know how long i could let it run without any water, as the rest of the cooling system is about 4 hours drive from here, with the truck, but it needs to run to get it ready to drop in the truck in the spring. about how long could it sit idle before being unsafe to keep running. to some degree, less than a minute, but with it making no power, im kinda unsure.

  12. i am aware it is an industrial engine, but take a closer look at the bolt-up for the manifold. i somehow think that is NOT factory
  13. okay, now just for the pickup tube. does this one just turn, or do i have to transplant one?
  14. this engine has come up on here many times, just search dual exhaust. that exhaust is kinda a homemade modification, as it is upside-down in the picture. they are normally stack with updraft carb.
  15. i think it has the dipstick in-block if i remember correctly. the one i got from you has it on the pan. and quite the same to you! i always enjoy meeting somebody face-to-face. you are actually the first forum member i have met personally.
  16. really, what does it look like? (besides like an oil pan!) could you post a pic or two for me? in the meantime, i dont think i have that type laying around, so i may need it.
  17. i got my engine from merle today (thank you), got the ignition working, rebuilt the carb, and now i realized the oil sump is at the wrong end, the front. i need it at the rear. what do i need to do to correct this? a new oil pan is in order for sure, it has the dipstick in pan. what else?

  19. i could put down some pieces of old tires, enough of those around! will the extra 1/2" offset the holes at the trans mounts enough to not work? now, for those that dont know what we are talking about, heres my massive metal monster!
  20. that's pretty cool! mine is just the old bracket with spacers on it.
  21. wow. i see the edits didnt work. i meant the kinda flat rubber part up front, right below the water pump. im kinda surprised i didnt get any more sarcastic answers. currently, the truck has a modified front mount, where the engine half is welded to a 1/2" thick chunk of steel which is bolted to the frame, about 2-3" back from the original mount holes. no room for rubber.
  22. nice. i even thought about that before i posted it.
  23. are they really necessary? the 41' somebody converted to a 23' engine instead of 25', and there is no place for an engine mount. in case you dont know, it is a 1.5 tonner.
  24. darnit! oh well, i wouldnt know what to do with it anyways!
