Today, I changed my shocks, I used the Monroe 5752 on the front and the 31000 on the rear. I found this info on this site. I phoned my local parts store with these numbers and they told me the numbers were no good. I told them the numbers were off the Monroe site, I checked. Nope, no good. I phoned the next place and they asked what are they for? I told them a 1950 Dodge, but here are the numbers. OK, the guy said. Let me put you on hold, 2 minutes later he is back on the phone. The numbers are good, but I will need to order them, they won't be in until this afternoon. Guess where I go for parts now. They were amazingly easy to change. Back on topic, after changing the shocks, I started up the car and gas is flowing from the fuel pump. I searched this site, and found a picture of exactly what I have, gas flowing from the weep hole, my pump needs re-building. Also, it appears mine should be an Auto-Lite FA4001, where is the best place to get a rebuild kit? I have an fuel pump that a neighbor sold me, it is an NOS, still in the box. It is an Ultra-Prene diaphragm pump by Automotive Accessory out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. I know that it will be affected by the ethanol in gas, but will it fit till I get mine rebuilt? I will attach pictures. Sorry for the rambling story.

Done Good Luck -
Congrats on the trophy. My last/first/only show, there were 4 cars in my class, original un-restored. 3 trophies and we got a particpant ribbon.:) Felt like High School fitness tests. Funny thing was, many people wanted to talk about their memories of cars like ours. Everybody has a story about an old Mopar.

Last weekend, I was in Regina, Saskatchewan for my son's Provincial Soccer Championships. (They lost in the final. ) While there, I went to an auto auction, it was advertised as a collector auction, not sure why. Not much for older vehicles. There was a 1950 Pontiac 4 door that looked decent, it sold for $1,000. The only car of interest was a 1951 Cranbrook 4 door, with 107,000 miles on it. The body was solid, the paint was quite scratched up, looked like it was parked in the shop and stuff piled on top of it. It ran good, supposedly the owner drove it 125 miles to the auction. The interior was original, it had an overdrive lever beside the steering column. It sold for $2,000. The pictures I took are flattering, better than it looked in person. Even though, it seemed like a good buy for someone.

My manual is for 49 to 52, but it has a #10 red coming from generator to regulator Terminal A and a #16 green to regulator terminal F. I can scan it and upload it if you want.

Spark Plugs and Spark Plug Wires on a 1950 Dodge

Ooops, Just rechecked everything and the problem is with the radio, not the plugs or plug wires. Radio just buzzes with or without car running. I will need to take it back to the gentleman who repaired it for me. Sorry for the wild goose chase. Thanks for everyone's help. -
Spark Plugs and Spark Plug Wires on a 1950 Dodge
1950 Special Deluxe replied to 1950 Special Deluxe's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Here is what I found this morning. I have Champion J11C plugs, cross reference to Autolite 306 plugs. So they are resistor/suppressor style plugs. The spark plug wires are generic 7mm suppression wires. Unfortunately, the old wires did not survive removal so I cannot swap them back in and try that. I will recheck my terminations on the weekend. -
Spark Plugs and Spark Plug Wires on a 1950 Dodge

Thanks to all, I will investigate further this weekend and update my findings. It sounds like it is something I have done as the radio was ok before I changed the wires. I am leaning towards improper terminations on the cut to fit wires. I will check the plugs I have and note the wires as well. Thanks for your help. Neil -
Spark Plugs and Spark Plug Wires on a 1950 Dodge
1950 Special Deluxe posted a topic in P15-D24 Forum
I recently changed my spark plug wires(did not notice any difference in operation, old ones were just quite experienced), I did the plugs 2 years ago when I got the car running. I used a generic cut to length Graphite(?) style of wires. Now, I have terrible static on the radio, I don't normally use the radio, but when people ask; does the radio work? I want to be able to say yes. I think I terminated the wires properly, I did pull them off and check. I did a number of searches on this site and after reading most of them, I am now even more confused. I did read on a couple of posts about a noise suppressor to use on the radio circuit. My 2 questions are, should I use resistor style or non-resistor style of plugs and what would be the best type of spark plug wires to use for my application? I apoligize for the simple, seemingly obvious questions, but I have got myself twisted into knots over this. -
A few members of our club, (Saskatoon Antique Auto Club) made the trek out to Spokane as well. Have not heard any reports from them.

We (Saskatoon Antique Auto Club) had our annual Show and Shine on Sunday, it was held at our local Casino. It is about 20 miles out of town and is Native owned and operated. It makes for a nice drive. Not much for Mopars but have a couple of other classics. The Dodge is mine, I did get a couple of D's so it is no longer an _o_ge. The Fury is owned by our Club president, the Packard is another member's, and I am not sure about the Studebaker.

Can I use this in both the transmission (Standard 3 speed) and the rear end? Been searching the forum and the web for 2 weeks and now am more confused than ever. Or should I use the Severe Gear Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP-Gear Lube 75w/90 that Amsoil has? Severe Gear® Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) Gear Lube 75W-90 Thanks

I have one on order from Automotive Interiors. I got seat covers from them as well. They fit perfect. Hopefully my headliner will also.

I have been after these photos for a while. We do not have a large downtown skyline, but it looks very nice in the Summer. Spent most of yesterday washing, polishing the chrome and using a cleaner wax on the car. Headed out early this morning to a spot on the riverbank that I had picked out. The large hotel in the background is called the Delta Bessborough, it was built by Canadian National Railway starting in 1928.

I bought 4 of the same size used tires last year for $75 off of Kijiji here in Saskatoon. A co-worker had a Princess Auto tire mounting machine. I installed them at his house using the balancing beads(Air Soft pellets) mentioned on this forum in a different thread. I bought the oval valve stems from a tire wholesaler for $30 for 5. So, for just over $100 I have 4 good radials. Last year, I put on 150 miles. This year I hope for 500 miles. I REALLY want WWW tires, but not yet.

I took my old one to a local hydraulic hose/ rubber wholesaler anf they made me one in about 15 minutes for under $20.

Got to visit with Moose yesterday at his house and he graciously gave a few minutes time adjusting my clutch linkage. (Thansk Moose!!!) Just ten minutes with him under the car and I am delighted to report that I have a car thats got tons of torque and runs up through the gears in classic fashion and doesnt need a new clutch! That is why I suggested he move near me.:):) Congratulations on your progress. Another Happy ending.

Personal car talk, is it good for the hobby?
1950 Special Deluxe replied to Bruce48D24's topic in P15-D24 Forum
I have never had anything other than positive comments. Most people that look at it are older, the younger ones only look at the rodded ones. As my car aspires to be driver quality it doesn't turn a lot of heads. But, the people that do stop and look all have their own stories. My dad/uncle had a car like that or I learned to drive in car like that, etc. -
SORRY about your loss. Thankfully, you were not hurt.
