  1. I redid my brakes and changed the fluid, the brake light switch failed within 1 month, any idea why? Thanks
  2. Watts is equal to Volts x amps, so amps is equal to Watts divided by volts. 165 watts divided by 6 volts equals 27.5 amps, not factoring any losses for the resistance of the wire. I would suggest #10 wire. If you are using 12 volts it would be 13.75 amps and #12 would be fine.
  3. Other than "ONE" play it was a great game. My oldest son (15) and I were there. Our family had a great weekend in Calgary, my wife and I went to Riderville on Friday night, took our boys to the parade on Saturday and all the festivities then the game on Sunday. The stadium went from insanely noisy to dead quiet with the drop of 1 flag. Still a great game for a team that was not supposed to be there and went in to the game as underdogs and led until the last play of the game. Just wait till this year.:o:o:o:o
  4. SGI (our government Insurance agency) has had many inquiries from outside the province about getting a set of these. But, they are valid plates so cannot be used by non-residents. Most other CFL teams look forward to the Riders coming to town as they are a good draw no matter where they go.
  5. Not sure if you can have vintage plates here in Saskatchewan, but for $50 you can show your support for our only pro team in the province, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Once a fan always a fan. Most people here are fans, we don't have much else. http://www.leaderpost.com/sports/football/roughriders-football/Roughrider+licence+plates+available+soon+from/3009448/story.html
  6. 21 miles last year. But, trailered it home from the in-laws last June and spent 2 months getting it running.(had not seen the light of day in 10 years) Much credit goes to this forum and its members. Spent the winter redoing the brakes and reading this forum. I am at 35 miles this spring, found out yesterday that my brake lights are not working now, traced it back to a the brake light switch, on order. Have a Show and Shine coming up in June, 15 miles out of town. Also working up the courage to go to a Car Show 60 miles from home in September, in-laws home town. Hoping to average 1000 miles in future years. Thanks to all members of this group
  7. I am eavesdropping on this post. Hope you don't mind. I am almost to this point.
  8. That is a sweet looking car. You have come to the right place, the people on here are great. My 1950 has been in my wife's family since 53 or 54, no one is sure anymore. My wife is 4th generation owner. I have copies of the manuals that were recommended and I concur with how valuable they are. I also agree with the advice to use the search function. Every time I run up against a head scratcher, I use the search and find the answer to that question and questions that I haven't come up with yet. This forum is a big reason I was able to get it back on the road.
  9. Spent the last 3 days polishing the old paint and chrome. Rubbed the paint with some Caruba cleaner, did all the chrome with some shine renew, cleaned the windows, replaced the cowl vent weatherstripping, and took a small drive. All in all quite productve, weather was beatiful in Saskatchewan this weekend 70+ all 3 days. I have included 3 pictures. It looks good from far, up close far from good.
  10. Was hoping to clean my engine compartment and now I am having second thoughts. Was going to leave it running then spray it down with engine de-greaser and then hose it off with either hot or cold water. Any thoughts?
  11. Thanks for the help. Looks like I am on the right path, last summer after I brought the car home from my in-laws my wife and sons were rubbing it down with Mothers California Gold Carnauba Cleaner Wax ( I was working on getting it running) that I was recommended to use. I thought that they could have rubbed harder, BUT:D:D:D:D:D I was smart enough to not say that because I am pretty sure what would have happened next. When it warms up again I will hand rub it again and send an updated picture. Thanks Again for this help. Also thanks to everyone involved with this site, I have gleaned much information from reading everyone's posts and also the archives.
  12. My car is still original paint, it has been garaged most of its life. The paint is in pretty good condidtion, a new paint job is not going to happen any time soon. I would like to remove some of the old dead paint and restore some shine. What would be the best product to use (in addition to elbow grease) to remove old oxidized paint and restore some color? The car is grey. I have included a picture from a local Hot Rod show, my car is outside in the parking lot, they had set up an area called the Classic Corral for not quite show ready cars. Thanks
  13. Thanks, I re-checked my parts book and fixed my mistake.
  14. I would support the auction and be willing to make a donation for the measurements and instructions as well.
  15. My 1950 Dodge Special Deluxe is missing a couple of D's. My parts book lists them as 1335578 for the first D and 1335580 for the middle D on the hood crease. I will attach a photo, they measure about 11/16" high. If someone has spares/extras and would be willing to sell them to me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  16. Nice work. What part of Saskatchewan did the car come from?
  17. The brakes are done, new (to me) radials and finally ready to go for the first run. 45F here in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Supposed to snow tonight, won't last long, but nice enough that I can go for the first drive. Our antique club is volunteering at the local Hot Rod (Draggins)club car show at Easter and my plan is drive it to the show and park outside. If it is nice there is quite often as much to see in the parking lot as at the show itself. (cars in progress, etc.)
  18. Yes, I have it running. I just finished doing the brakes and am ready to take it out once the snow melts in the next little while. Thanks
  19. I would like to clean the engine compartment so that I can see if and where it has leaks or seeps and to just generally clean it. Other that take the oil bath cleaner off and put a plastic bag over the carb. and the distributor is there any other precautions I should take? A co-worker cautioned me about this as he thinks there might be some cross flow ventilation openings. My first thoughts were to spray it down with engine cleaner and then pressure wash it with hot water. Everything under the hood is still original. Thanks
  20. I just caught Hell for this as well. My response, I got it running!!!!!!
  21. Thanks Is this the right way to go? I am having trouble with the door switch sticking.
  22. I am looking at installing a master disconnect/cut-off switch on the battery of my car. It says to put it on the negative terminal, thinking that all cars are negative ground. Should I put it on the positive lead? Thanks
  23. On my car, the tires were G78-15 and they crossed over to 205/75/15 radials using the conversion table, (I think it was on Coker's site.) I bought new 2 piece valve stems fom a tire repair wholesaler. They were oblong shaped on the stem part to fill the oblong hole in the rim. I cleaned the rim and installed and they hold good air pressure.
  24. I have found that my local NAPA and the PartSource here are the same. If you have the number they can usually cross-reference it. I bought a Canadian Parts book specific for my car, it was more than I wanted to spend but has been worth it already, as a Dodge Special Deluxe doesn't come up on their screens. Most parts are the same as the Plymouth Special Deluxe, but there are a few differences and it is nice to be sure.
  25. For a really good book on cars built in Canada from 1930 through 1980, complete with all models, body styles, prices, weights, serial numbers, short historial notes, and for the 1949-66 models, the colours and codes used by Canadian manufacturers, get a copy of "Catalog of Canadian Car I.D. Numbers". I found a Canadian distributor for this book. Transport Books website is http://www.transportbooks.com/index.html I have it on order and it is on its way. My brakes are close to completion, temparatures are above freezing, time to drive.
