  1. Great story. Thanks for sharing.
  2. The same thing happened to me years ago in my 89ish S-10 work truck, except I have no idea where I lost my spare. One day I happened to look under it, and there was the frayed cable flapping in the wind. Oops, never made the news so I guess it didn't hit anybody.
  3. I went with Dot 5.
  4. I did mine last winter. I was told not to mix Dot 5 with either 3 or 4. I installed new wheel cylinders and the hoses. Rebuilt the master cylinder, flushed the hard lines with alcohol and then blew them out with compressed air before reassembling the hoses and cylinders. no issues yet. As the car sits all winter, I try to pump the pedal every couple of weeks to keep the fluid moving a bit.
  5. I bought these, I trimmed them to fit my 1950 Dodge and then used them for patterns to make new ones for mine out of heavier material. They were a good starting point as mine were shot.
  6. I can't wait for Spring!:) This looks like fun. So many other things I should do first, but this will be the thing that gets done.
  7. I would trade/sell the spare parts. I work with a gentleman who is in his early 70's, he bought a brand new loaded Mustang GT a couple of years ago. Every one asked him, why would he buy a Sports car like that with an Automatic transmission? His response was that; I am nearly 70 years old, what if I blow out my knee and can't shift?
  8. Diane is still there, very good phone service, very nice to deal with. I talked to her today to check on my order and she is checking and will get back to me. Will post pictures once they arrive.
  9. I ordered mine from here; http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/seatcovers.htm. The price went up after I placed my order. They have not arrived yet, so cannot comment on quality, fit, etc. Supposed to arrive this month. I still need to find a carpet set.
  10. That is a great start. Welcome aboard.
  11. Best wishes to your mom. Good luck.
  12. The main picture is a 50 Dodge Special Deluxe, the 49 you can only see the left front corner.
  13. He told me it is a 49, I will check to see if I have more pictures.
  14. My story is recent, last fall I attended my 1st car show, about 60 miles away at my in-laws hometown with my 1950 Canadian Dodge Special Deluxe (D-36). I placed 4th out of 4 cars in the original class, different story. While sitting and talking to people, a gentleman came up and asked me if I was looking for any parts for my car. I told him that I was always looking/watching for spare parts. He said he had an identical car to mine on his acreage outside of town. It wasn't his, his friend had bought it a number of years ago to restore, but decided it was too far gone and there it sat. He left me his number and said to give him a call later in the week as he would talk to his friend and see if it was for sale. I called and yes it was for sale. I drove out the next night, it is only about 15 miles from my house. I went to his house and he got in my truck and he said it is just over the hill. As I drove over the hill there were at least 150 cars of various description, mid 40's to late 60's. I asked why so many. He used to run a salvage yard in the city and eventually the property was worth more than the business, so he sold the property and since he felt scrap prices were too low he trucked all the cars and trucks out to his farm. I bought the complete car for $250. He now has a couple of old cars himself and helps people like myself out. The 1st 2 pictures are of the parts car and the 3rd picture is my/our car.
  15. Good Luck on your trip home.
  16. Good Luck from Saskatchewan and Safe travels.
  17. Sorry for your loss Bob. Neil
  18. I got the same GPS.
  19. They were great to deal with. It arrived in less than 10 days, at my door on a Sunday.
  20. Merry Christmas Bob and Cooper. Let us not forget Mrs. Bob. This hobby/addiction is nothing without the support of our better halves.
  21. http://sastool.com/product_info.php?products_id=226&osCsid=bda970976c8b2bfe6f5c117cd14a4d75 Decent price, seems to be a decent tool. Shpped it to Canada for under $30.
  22. I decided to spend a bit more than I intended to and ordered these covers. What the heck, it is Christmas and I was a good boy. http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/seatcovers/customfit_tweed.htm
  23. Thanks for the ideas.
  24. So many times, I read posts and think to myself, I need to remember this for later. The last one was, the window winding tip. Is there a way to mark posts for easy reference later? I have been printing them off and putting them in my reference binder. But, then I forget. Thanks to everyone for their help. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. neil
