  1. Here's the pic from my parts manual
  2. I was going to suggest rubbing some viagra on the door handle to straighten it up. But that might only last for four hours or so,
  3. Yep......be sure to check those lug nuts (or bolts) before starting, and somewhere along the way. These cars don't do so good as a three wheeler. I drove my car to Tulsa for the same event as Don did......but it's only about 100 miles each way for me, Car did fine on a two lane road (old Rt 66) at 50 to 55 mph. As passing is sometimes difficult on a two lane.......I would watch the rearview mirror = and if too many vehicles were stacked up behind me, I'd pull off onto the shoulder to let 'em pass. Took a selection of tools and spare parts, but thankfully didn't need to use them.
  4. Kind of like Robert H said.......Back in the 1970s when I decided to sell my blue P15 coupe......an older guy came to look, said it would probably be the last old car he would buy, etc.......seemed like a nice enough fellow.......so I reduced the price a bit and he bought it. Not long after, it appeared for sale in Hemmings for more money, and he presumably eventually found a buyer. I did keep my painted wire wheels and fender skirts before offering the car for sale. And I was told the man hooked up the battery backwards and caused some electrical problem with the car for himself. At least I had a chuckle about that. (I know, not the best attitude). I finally decided all is fair in old car deals....like it or not. When I first found my convertible......I knew there were really no others in this part of the country.....I did not haggle when the seller quoted a price as he was reasonable already. At times, I wish I still had all those old Mopars I bought and re-sold, but as the old song goes: K Sarah Sarah
  5. I think it's on the firewall. Looked for a picture, but couldn't find one. I think I've removed them from 49 or early 50s cars and that's where they were. On a P15, the relay is right on the horn bracked.
  6. Sorry to hear that news, Fred. Same goes for you as for Andy.........please stick around after the coupe departs. After all, the Fargo is still an old Mopar. (OT completely........man, that was an interesting prison break a couple days ago in Canada by using a helicopter) (I gather the criminals were re-apprehended fairly shortly, or at least one was.)
  7. Don't you be goin' nowhere mister. Hang in here and continue to enjoy the information, fun and occasional frivolity.
  8. The P15 hubcaps have a chrome "skin" over them..........I think back in the old days you could get a new skin and replace the old. They were crimped all around the circumference. I found a skin which had come off a cap just this weekend in the back seat of a P15 we were getting some parts from. I usually use liquid chrome cleaner, then liquid wax from Meguiars to protect and shine the caps. Mine are not perfect either, but I only use them on rare occasions when I get in the mood to revert to steel wheels. I did repaint the picture and lettering on mine with Testors red model car paint.
  9. Your motor does indeed look nice. I once had a 60 Pontiac with that blue color......thought it looked familiar.
  10. Neat looking lense. That light IS installed in one of the holes for a heater control........have never seen one there before. What does it seem to do.........how do you turn it on or off? Is it attached to a heater blower switch?
  11. A neat looking lense. That light IS located in one of the heater control holes on the lower dash panel.
  12. Are yours oval or round? Oval ones can be purchased from Ford parts vendors, so they tell me. Not sure about round........ It probably did have the type with the stainless cap on them. On mine, since the caps were kinda beat up, one chrome guy told me to use some small vice grips and remove the caps.......then he plated the actual head of the oval type bolt.
  13. Goodness.......255 is a big tire. Too big. I can see why you want to change. I am using a 6.70 x 15 Firestone tire from Coker on the convert. I like the size and the medium wide whitewall........
  14. Greetings Mr Supervert. Welcome. Where you from, and what kind of convert do you have????
  15. Good family picture. Eventually you will probably discover the problem.......but in the meantime enjoy the togetherness.
  16. I started out keeping a record of costs.......was trying to do at least some stuff as economically (cheap) as possible. But......like others, I finally quit keeping tabs. Went over to a fellow's house in Kansas today......took son in law Dale.... to get some bits and pieces for his coupe. The man has two P15s in the yard.........plus two he can drive (a coupe and a two door sedan with a V8). He sold us a batch of small parts off one old P15 for $70 which seems like kind of a lot.....but......if you bought those same items at ebay prices they would probably cost $300 all told. Am always looking for parts and pieces anywhere I go, and sometimes can get a deal......sometimes not. But, it's always fun. A couple years ago, I found a batch of old cars of all brands, including some Plymouths, halfway across the state. Made one trip there with a friend to see the cars in person. Saw one 53 with overdrive.........so later took Dale and made the trip again to buy the O D. Don't recall what the gas and buying a burger for the owners cost, but was worth it to me.
  17. Hope it's good this year. Lots of things go into producing a good show and getting above average cars to participate. We have a local indoor event in February (I guess they held it this year....it just now dawned on me I didn't go and can't recall any ads). They usually manage to bring in a few extra nice cars from farther away as show stoppers...... but after that, many are locals who I've seen before. No ratty rods, all cars are painted and upholstered and look nice. I don't know if they offer car owners any incentive to show up......I think there is an entry fee.....so maybe the owners simply like to show their cars.
  18. No. No light by ignition switch on my P15. There is a hole where a heater or defroster cable would go that could be used for a light if someone wanted to add one. I installed a pair of small lights below the dash to the left of the steering wheel as turn signal indicators.....so I won't drive forever with a light flashing.
  19. A pretty decent appearing car for starters. They all seem to have their problems due to old age and possible neglect. But, there are lots of parts for them around......the game is you just have to find them. Kind of like looking for Easter Eggs sometimes.
  20. Do you have a picture of that mirror on your car, Ed? Robin, in London, put that style on his convert so he could see while driving "on the wrong side of the road". I think he is happy with them.
  21. I've never been to the Detroit show, but I gather COBO Hall has a main floor and a basement. On the main floor, for the most part, are very nice cars including those competing for the Ridler Award, which goes to some extra nice, well executed vehicle. In the basement, are the more "everyday" cars......the ones with patina, and so forth.......but are some real nice ones there too. Not sure what the criteria is for where you get to park. Evidently some of the upstairs people ignore those below, and vice versa and never go look at the "other" type of cars.
  22. Actually, a 48 model would have come with 15 inch wheels.......they changed from 16 to 15 during the 47 model year. (someone correct me if this is wrong) Several persons have said they like the 215x 15 radials best for size in the fender opening. However, some like a 205x 15. The radials can be used with original rims which are 4 1/2 x 5 bolt pattern (i think that's right).....or you can get a new steel rim from some vendor like Wheel Vintiques. Those orig. rims can sometimes be found in salvage yards that have old cars, in our classified parts for sale section here, or on ebay.
  23. The only thing I can think of in that position might be a warning light for when the emergency brake is engaged. Must have had a lense over it originally. Don't think it's a map light. But......I don't own a Dodge. There's a light like the one below currently for sale on ebay.............
  24. I pressed control plus v and it posted the link but not the picture......... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/BobT3/Petey%20Plymouth%201/100_7437.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/BobT3/Petey%20Plymouth%201/100_7437.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/BobT3/Petey%20Plymouth%201/100_7437.jpg
  25. Lately I have noticed a message in a box appearing at the top when I first open PhotoBucket.......but it does not appear all the time. It doesn't stay up there very long, but it says something llike PhotoBucket does not support Windows 7, use Google Chrome and/or some other choices as a browser. (At least that's what I think it says). Maybe that's what's causing some of these difficulties. I still use Windows 7, and so far it works to do the thumbnails but I can't get anything to work with that green tree box.
