  1. this is usually the end of a boot...they will get to a point stretch yields to a tear...
  2. quick blip you need the stream and the sudden movement of the spring will provide that....however slow and easy opening much less of a stream (often a dribble) as the fuel to transition from idle to run is less....and when above a certain point you will draft that fuel from the main jet....and why bog at upper end is not as noticed....
  3. the plate only moves with vacuum advance....the spring loaded flyweighted cam does the advancing mechanically at this point moving the breaker cam...
  4. while may not be the problem....I will repeat....look at the condenser....they run like new idling, revving and not loaded...put it under load, falls on its face.....usually you can start seeing the bluing of the point contacts as an indicator but not always a guaranteed tell sign. If you have one to swap only takes a minute and no change to the points setting....if you have a capacitor meter to read this...will/should be .18 -.25mfd (avg) cannot get the spec from the book...this would be just a quick check as you would still need do breakdown test...resistance test.....swap with one is usually best and quickest means.
  5. yes, if they deleted the attachment in their profile or the link they had taken from the web went bust....you get the small icon and nothing else. For the most part I would think a PM to a person with a missing image in regard to an issue would show you are doing your research and they would be able to assist you in PM form. DO NOT FORGET....attachments in PM form go against your count and often the other party will leave the conversation and thus the link/image is literally dead for all practical purposes....just delete these to free up hosting space...
  6. as often as the typical subject come up and get rehashed in the absence of personal research.....the pictures you have posted may never be viewed as archived
  7. vacuum advance could cause the internal shorting...HOWEVER on acceleration the loss of vacuum puts this out of play.....only when at cruise and low load will the vacuum signal cause for full advance of the points. Just plug the vacuum line for a quick check though. You could be drawing your vacuum non ported...if so, this is wrongly set up but again with acceleration you will lose the vacuum and all things go mechanical while under load and acceleration....but if non ported...you are pulling vacuum advance at idle...not sure if you are disturbing the little wire or not.
  8. as a builder of cars....I will Mikey is doing what he is best suited to do, super rocky start on this forum as owner/builder....as for the prices and such.....if folks want to pay his price...that is up to them.....I have made respectable offers for stuff he is selling and no problems. I have sold NOS to him, again, no problems. Big big world out there folks....
  9. good pictures......just worked a couple of these stock strap on as factory supplied 1970 model.....very handy, very re-usable with care given to removal.
  10. the pin would have to be extremely hot to have SWOLLEN to a point of too large...sounds like a poorly made unit from the start.
  11. it is not hi-jacked...it is a living thing, adapting to environmental change...(hey I got a corner I can stand in also..!!)
  12. I have gremlins in my shop and they do not have an AMC badge on them...
  13. never noticed that....the problem I have with rockauto is the slamming of shipping fees....I have filled my cart an item at a time...item one ships from point A then item two will ship from point B and item three will ship from point C and so on....so you go back, change the brand of the part where it says item two will now ship from point A, lo and behold, item one now ships from point B.....it is a racket I tell you.....I use rock auto mainly as a clearing house for part numbers due to this shipping scam they have going on. Where I did complete A and B on one order, it shipped in same box....is point A front of the store and point B the middle and so on and so forth?
  14. I live under a constant blue cloud but it is due to not finding what I need...I can have it in my hand and two minutes later start a 1 hour search for the item...NO ONE and I mean NO ONE can misplace an item as quick as myself.
  15. I had already found the manner to disable this push.....but for those that did not go searching for this, going to be a whole lot less of a headache. THANKS...! as was said in a very popular movie...badges, we don't need no stinking badges.....maybe that can go away also.
  16. thanks, I found you can turn off these achievement notifications....so for now...I am less annoyed as I get no pop ups....
  17. the trival stuff is of little concern to me for the same reason, not relating to the support of the old cars and help folks are looking to get. The pop up notifications I did not like and found the means to turn them off...the rest....not important....
  18. no, but Santa may not leave you any goodies under the tree.....
  19. you can eliminate this push of fluff by visiting your profile, account setting, notification settings...acheivements.....uncheck the box and get this pop up gone...
  20. just turned the ACHIEVEMENT notification to OFF...
  21. If you happy with frivolous pages and alerts popping up that is no concern to anything...then by all means let your words speak only for yourself....do not include me into your like thinking.... However, like many here I am thinking things will return to some bit normality but ONLY AFTER the issues are pointed out.
  22. If it was the I DON'T PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS I could accept that badge.....!!!!!!!!! In all seriousness this is totally juvenile, can't think of a better term to describe it... I am almost afraid to go looking at other features.....lol
  23. I just got an alert I got my very POPULAR BADGE.....common this is totally junevile....I am not a facebook member but I would suspect this is the type of garbage that is on that site daily....
  24. I agree, too much fluff....then again, I am not one that deals with change very well as it is....after this posting I got an alert my first post, then it goes to a page of fluff that I care not to see...this is an action that is in my book....a very WEIRD action...
  25. with the first 10 minutes jacking your jaws being friendly while drinking that first cup of hot coffee.....!!!!
