1. In Mopar language is a C41 a 1941 Chrysler ?
2. You can clean the engine right where it is pretty well . Pulling the engine is a lot of extra work .
3. There is also one on the 39-47 dodge truck Yahoo site . You might need to register to get access . Go to the files section , then to WC wireharness Info . pdf . There is a place to buy a shop manual that has the diagram too .
4. That is a nice photo of your car , it looks nice with the green lawn .
5. Go to the auto parts store and buy the fitting . Use this method instead of the other .
6. Well , I have to post a different opinion . At 40,000 miles these engines were often worn out because of low gear ratios , poor quality oil , and dusty unpaved roads . But your engine probably has been rebuilt in the past .
7. It seems to me that you could get buy with just one relay . Perhaps on the wire that goes to the dimmer switch supplying the power . Just guessing here .
8. On my filter canister the very top of the dome was pulled down from many years of tightening , or over tightening . This meant that the tightening bolt was tight or out of threads before the filter cap pulled the gasket tight enough , and it would leak . The solution was hammering the dome back into shape . Also on mine there is a copper washer between the top of the dome and the tightening nut , which is a T handle , to seal the center of the top . Now I have never had the center section apart to get at the copper washer but another member has had his apart .
9. If you want to do it yourself , Dodge Pickups by Don Bunn has a section with a good guide on reupholstery .
10. [quote name=40P10touring sedan ...<snip>... The short series blocks- 201/218/230 run with a 23" block while the 251/265 series{there's one more but I forget it} are 25" long. < snip>... I was told that the dizzys weren't interchangable' date=' but a chat with Mr langdon informed me they were... <snip>...
I think Mr. Langdon has made an error . Everything I have read says that the distributors have a longer shaft in the longer block . One source says 1/4 inch longer .
11. " I have been rebuilding it . I drove it on the freeway for the first time " Newly rebuilt engines tend to run a little hot , it might settle down when it loosens up . Perhaps you were driving it a little too fast too , it depends on your gears . Some people report good results with ' water wetter ' to bring temperatures down some . Don't do anything drastic until you experiment with the easy and cheap stuff first . Is your bottom radiator hose collapsing at higher RPM s ? Is your thermostat opening completely ?
12. He didn't mention the word ' vise ' once in his reply so his message is probably used for all of his transactions .
13. I have a very large expensive Wilton vise advertised on my local Craigslist . I have received the attached email from a prospective buyer and I am suspicious . I think I will tell him cash only even though I do have a paypal account . Good to have your reply. I am Frank Andrew, from Topeka, KS.and would have loved to come and inspect this at your place myself, but I am a marine engineer and presently off-shore. I am interested in buying this for my son in Ohio as a surprise birthday gift and pls just make sure it is in condition described. I will appreciate more pictures if available and will be sending your money asap. My shipper will be available to pick this up as soon as payment is made. Do you have PayPal account? because, I have a PayPal account that I can easily send money through because, its good for business payments. Get back to me with your PayPal email address and name in order for me to have your money sent on time. Confirm sale to me and remove the add from posting. Regards Frank "
14.
You can get a lot of oil in a filter that screws in sideways and not have it run out on installation . Pour it in the filter and turn the filter round & round and the oil gets absorbed into the element .
15. You don't know how much has been shaved from the head in the past . Just shave the bare minimum to make it flat .
16. But , wouldn't you want to keep the engine level ? I have seen photos of engines going in and the guys would have a level resting on the intake manifold where the carborator mounts . Perhaps not important ?
17. That is a nice looking car and you guys are going to have a lot of fun . The oil pressure at 40 is fine . I see that you lost just a little coolant , that could be OK too as it likes to find it's own level . On the fuel gauge check for a bad ground , a lot of guys loose their ground when the gas tank is painted . It could be a loose wire too .
18. Try your stock fan first . I live in Stockton and run the stock fan , usually at 160 degrees .
19. That mount looks like it would go between the dashboard and the steering column and hold the column shifting part . For which makes and models I don't know .
20. If you haven't already done it , re-tighten your head bolts . I usually do mine several times .
21. Assuming you have a mechanical temperature gauge with the ether bulb in the fitting in the head . If you decide to remove the ether bulb , there is a welsh plug in the head just above the bulb if the thing is stuck . That particular welsh plug is not as common as the others though . It is smaller , 3/4 or 1 " .
22. You can buy an inexpensive after market gauge at some part stores and mount it under your dash board . You MIGHT be able to fix your existing gauge by removing it from the car ( they are fragile and the bulb of ether gets stuck in the head ) by gently adjusting the very small connector that attaches to the needle .
23. Check the oil level again . Perhaps you did but didn't mention it . If it is real low , check for leaks , like the hose to the oil pressure gauge . If all is OK , try another gauge as mentioned above .
