  1. Is there a business in your area that specializes in rubber products ?
  2. Glad you found the problem . The plate in the distributor moves because of the vacuum advance .
  3. [quote name= It DID idle quiet and butter smooth last year. But died instantly if any throttle was tried. [/quote] There is a wire in the distributor that moves each time you use the throttle . It moves with the plate . This wire has been a problem with many vehicles . See if the wire somehow shorts out by touching something or see if the wire disconnects when the plate moves . This would explain your OK idle and no higher RPM .
  4. When you remove the drum , the key will just fall away loose . So pull the drum and don't worry about the key .
  5. The sealed can throw aways are rare and expensive , so don't go that route . Can your existing canister be welded as a repair ? Lots of after market versions were used on these trucks. If you can find a junkyard with older vehicles , they would have some . Ebay has them but they are usually asking too much money . Another option would be a forum member who has a spare .
  6. My grandpa used to have a odor too .
  7. In the middle it would be about 160 . All the way to the right would be 212 .
  8. Actually , a little bit down from the brim is BEST . If your master cylinder is filled to the very top , it will leak out of the tiny vent hole in the master cylinder cap .
  9. If you guys want to see more photos of Moparbenny's 1933 Chrysler , he has an album when you look at his profile . Lots of interesting patina .
  10. Here it is ; Then and now / Antique Auto Parts Cellar
  11. Young Ed has posted several times in the past about a vendor in the states that sells fuel pump repair kits that are compatable with the new gasoline . If I remember correctly the kits are fairly expensive . Perhaps they will sell only the diaphram . If Ed doesn't chime in here , do a search on fuel pump repair kits .
  12. You wouldn't think that those heavy shafts would bend , but mine was bent too , in my 1941 . I put it in the vise and straightened it .
  13. Yes , do it . Just don't do it too long . Also before you go buy the water pump grease , look to see if your pump has a grease fitting , not all of them do .
  14. Darren , If you turn your distributor 180 degrees , your rotor needs to turn 180 degrees too . That way the rotor still lines up with the correct wire terminals .
  15. Perhaps I don't hear the true sound . What I hear sounds like a vibration , like a loose air cleaner .
  16. your video doesn't come through . It is marked as private .
  17. [quote=40P10touring sedan ... <snip >.... ...shouldn't those be solid rivets? It looks to me that those are for rolling with the hole in them and the ends are flat like someone hit them with a rod to peen them. I make rivets for a living and from what I've seen and been told applications like this require a solid rivet....however...this could be fine for the practice eons ago if they are that old. Thoughts?....... Perhaps someone drilled a hole in each of those rivets as the rivet heads were removed .
  18. " thoughts , ideas , inspiration ? " Someone , somewhere must have a starter for a 1930 Chrysler . Perhaps on some other forums ? Does anyone have a parts book to identify which other years and models will fit ? EDIT ; Ah , yes , the replacement starter probably doesn't fit because of the replacement engine block . Anyway , I too have seen photos of a starter that had the housing shaved off to fit an engine .
  19. Here are some part numbers for a replacement for that hose . Compliments of the late Norms Coop ; Parts Master F98915 , ETS5722 , Bendix77230 . The Bendix number is a special order item from Auto Zone .
  20. Straight forward . Use tubing wrenches .
  21. Fifth Avenue internet Garage has pulleys advertised , see if they have what you need .
  22. In our area we have appliance part stores , that might be a good place to look too .
  23. You shouldn't have to turn your drums and you shouldn't have to pull your seals . And the seals are a snug fit by the way , they are hammered in place . The answer to your problem is either brake shoe adjustment or the wrong pins .
  24. Here it is , in all it's glory . It is a Bluepoint .
  25. If anyone wants to buy a good one , I have one that I will sell for $135 plus shipping . it is the real heavy duty American made model . I haven't looked at it in a while but it is either Snap-On or Bluepoint . Shipping within USA is $11.35 . I will send a photo if requested but I won't be available until late tomorrow .
