  1. That looks good , you work fast .
  2. I often see NOS 6 volt coils selling for low $ on ebay . The next time it seems to run out of gas , look down the throat of the carburator ( with the engine not running ) and move the throttle a full swing . If you don't see a good healthy stream of gas enter the carb ... you have a gas delivery problem .
  3. See ebay number162075671503
  4. " Jerry - have you had luck sealing up the bulb by putting pipe dope on the bulb itself, right at the sealing area? " YES .
  5. Also when you inspect the gland nut note that there is a taper to the seat that matches the taper of the brass bulb . That tapered seat can rust away . It wouldn't hurt to use a little thick pipe joint compound on this area .
  6. Welcome to the group . You missed a letter in your distributor model number . it is IAP-4102-1 . For the D30 , D31 , D32 ( Canada ) . The Auto Lite part numbers are ; cap IAO 1003 , rotor IGS 1016B , contact set ( points ) IGP 3028 ES , condenser IG 3927G . Ebay is a good place to search for Auto-Lite ignition parts . I like the old NOS parts better than the new replacements from China . If you want to order the new replacements just give your distributor model number to Roberts Motor Parts or Andy Bernbaum Auto parts . Perhaps NAPA Auto Parts too . If you should need other part numbers for your distributor just let me know . On the manifold gaskets , PROBABLY that Desoto gaskets are what you need , but I could be wrong on that .
  7. Your friend might need to buy a Dodge tailgate without the script . They are available new . Then either paint on FARGO himself or leave it blank . Fiberglass fenders are also available new . Sometimes the steel enders show up used on ebay but they can be expensive .
  8. 1/4 inch is too small . At least 5/16 inch .
  9. I use MMO also . When I was checking prices Walmart had the best price .
  10. This tool fits on a 1/2 inch ratchet or a 1/2 inch extension .
  11. I recently found four of these packages , a woman had them in her unlighted barn . A true barn find . So there might be more out there .
  12. It would be a lot easier if the heat shield doesn't fit between the two manifolds . It can sometimes be a very big job to loosen and separate the manifolds with possible bolts breaking off . My home made heat shield is just held in place with a piece of wire . It looks and works fine .
  13. Some of the most spectacular before and after photos .
  14. Yes it can , USUALLY . Each gauge can be a little different . And they can be very sensitive in adjustment , easy to make the situation worst rather than better . At the top of the gauge you will see a little brass flat bar with a long slot in it . In this slot is an arm from the mostly flat coil of ether , this arm is actually a small wire . If you gently move the wire arm to a higher position in the slot , you will get more movement in the gauge needle , or to a lower position for less movement of the needle . You might need less movement since your gauge always reads 212 . Or if your needle doesn't return to 100 , you might be able to simply apply pressure to the needle itself to bring it down to the right temperature reading without doing anything else . First you need to find out for sure that your gauge isn't accurate , perhaps using an aftermarket gauge to test . When doing adjustments I usually have a camping stove with a pot of boiling water handy to check adjustments as needed .
  15. I bought a gallon from NAPA recently for $38 plus tax . It looked like it had been on the shelf for a long time . I also had a little bit in a quart jug and it was honey colored , it sat for a long time and a lot of black sludge settled in the bottom .
  16. Fill it pretty much to the top .
  17. Looks pretty solid . Andy Bernbaum Auto Parts , Roberts Motor Parts . Both are on the east coast and they have catalogs . Vintage power Wagons in Iowa . Get a shop manual specific to the truck year and model and a parts manual would be helpful too . Measure the heads on both engines to see if they are the same length . Check the links section of this forum .
  18. Are these parts made of wood ? You are asking about wood screws .
  19. There is a small part that the tab pushes to shut off the flow of gas . you will get a new one in your carb kit with a diagram of all of the parts .
  20. Even the slight variation in the voltage makes a difference . Voltage can vary when connecting directly to a battery or when the car engine isn't running or when the current is coming from old wires under the hood or questionable grounds .
  21. You can still get what you want ... order the locking handles and then sell your other new handles .
  22. Looking in my Autolite parts catalog that goes up to the year 1951 ; The starter motor for the B3B truck is part number MCL-6110 . The armature number is MCH- 2070 . These numbers are also good for some of the 1949 , and 1950 trucks . I didn't look through the entire catalog . You might verify the number on your starter as it could have been swaped out earlier . If your starter number is the same you could check ebay for replacements . If you need part numbers for some of the other parts in this starter , let me know .
  23. Some of these guys have replaced their leaf springs at a very reasonable cost with new replacements . I'm sure that they will chime in . In the meantime try doing a search on the forum on new replacement leaf springs .
