  1. Here are the Autolite part numbers for your distributor Autolite IAT-4011 cap Iat-1033 , rotor IAU-1016A , contact set IGW-3028BS , condenser IAT-3076RA . If you need any other part numbers for this distributor just let me know . P.S. , I usually buy my Autolite parts on ebay NOS .
  2. You might try to get in touch with the experts , like Eaton Springs . They should have all of the specifications . Welcome to the forum .
  3. Um , not quite flush , you don't want to mushroom the threaded end at all . Leave the nut proud a little bit . And use an old nut that you can throw away when you are done as the old nut will mushroom .
  4. WD40 now makes a penetrating oil . I haven't tried it .
  5. You need to put a resistor on the wire that goes to your coil as mentioned , from 12 volts to 6 volts . Use the normal 6 volt points and condenser .
  6. There have been some posts in the past on those lock washers , it seems that they are a special size and hard to find . A search of the forum might turn up some more information .
  7. Remember to re - torque your head bolts , they loosen up a lot . I do mine several times to be sure .
  8. Yup , thats right , the old ones would run without the battery in place . They would run on just the generator output .
  9. This doesn't sound correct to me . I have punched out races on these old drums many times . Are you thinking that the races should just slide in and out ? Correct me if I am wrong .
  10. If you haven't done it already , that the coil out of the holder and see if there is any printing on it . Such as ' external resistor required ' .
  11. Well since you asked . It has been mentioned here twice that an Optima 6 volt battery is a good choice . They have plenty of CCA 's and will spin the engine almost like a 12 volt battery . It will also fit in your existing battery tray so you don't have to cut up the tray . They are expensive though , but as an added benefit , they don't gas .
  12. You can easily disconnect the cables that are on your newer rear end by removing your brake drums . Or just leave the cables in place and tie them up out of the way . Do you have the parking brake drum on the rear of your transmission ? If not , you might want to find a way to hook up those newer cables.
  13. Most guys live in a city so they don't have room for a big truck . Most guys would not drive a big truck to run a small errand . Low demand = low value .
  14. One side only .
  15. Tom P Here are photos of the spare part that I have . It came from a bell housing in a 1939 Dodge truck , 1/2 ton . If you or anyone else knows if it is what you need , please speak up .
  16. Tom P , If you decide that you need a pedal shaft made for left hand drive let me know as I have an extra one . I don't know if the bell housings are the same left or right .
  17. Do you want these parts ? I will need your address on a pm .
  18. Are you talking about the tie rod ? The tie rod goes from one side of the truck to the other side of the truck . My tie rod was bent so I just put it in the vise and pulled it back straight . I might have used a pipe for leverage .
  19. I use this tool to spread my leaf springs so that I can apply grease between the leaves . I use a needle fitting on my grease gun to get into the gap . I grease only my oldest springs as spring steel 5160 was introduced sometime in the 1950 ' s and that steel doesn't get along with petroleum products . This tool was probably made in the horse and buggy days .
  20. Too many years of getting stepped on ? They came that way from the factory with a bushing or hole that wasn't quite squared ?
  21. My pedal / arm was bent too . I put mine in the vise and hammered it back straight without heat . It looks like cast iron but it didn't break .
  22. Does Duplicolor have a customer service phone number ?
  23. See Quality Power 6 volt alternators at $135 . 909-794-1600 . I haven't done business with them myself . Their part number is 71276VN for negative ground .
  24. Did you polarize the generator ? If generators are so expensive it might be time for an alternator , 6 or 12 volt .
  25. That looks a lot like the tanks in the 1939 - 1947 Dodge trucks . See ebay item number 322409636689 to compare photos . The item isn't mine .
