Alaska48 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 I understand the forum was modified prior to my arrival to be more 56k friendly, but I was wondering if we could start a thread with a picture of everyone's ride... you know, put a car with the name.... Just an idea.... Quote

Alaska48 Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 Many of the pics can be seen in the profiles. Dude, major buzzkill.... what kind of forum is this if there is no user interaction.... i've been on several different car forums and never been shot down on multiple threads.... if you don't want to participate or read anything why are you even on here? greg g Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Ease up fellow, I believe you were being directed to a resource which already includes many members vehicles both cars ad trucks. If that is a buzz kill, sorry you feel that way. Much of this ground has already been plowed, so I would have refered you there also. Also where have you been shot down on multiple threads??? Looks like you got quite a bit of excellent information in a very short time. this is one of the friendliest and most tolerent forums I have seen, so lets not spoil the colegiality of the community by stepping on a guy for giving you a place to find what you asked for. I didn't realoze picture had an expiration date on them, or that fresh ones had more detail. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Speaking of reading. Suggest all new forum members take a couple of hours and read everything there is to read on the main web page supporting this forum. A lot of questions can be answered there. Quote

I answered several of my questions there before I even knew there was a link to this forum. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Dude, major buzzkill.... what kind of forum is this if there is no user interaction.... i've been on several different car forums and never been shot down on multiple threads.... if you don't want to participate or read anything why are you even on here? Unlike other forums I think you'll find this one is probably the most active and most friendly of them all. As pointed out by others the main part of this site is at http://www.p15-d24.com. Loads of technical info etc. is there. As for pictures of everyones ride. Well, again as others said check the profiles. It would be a real mess if everyone posted pictures of their cars in one thread like this. In case you didn't notice on the forum main page there are 514 active members, and over 1,000 members in all on this forum. Most of the active members cars are already posted in their profile under the "Members List" (link above). I'm sure someone will answer any questions you may run across and even some you don't run into. However, even though all the technical info is in the main site, plus you get good answers here, you still should buy a service manual for your car. That is the best part and best money you can spend if you own and are going to work on any old car (or new one for that matter). Not everything can be answered here, especially since none of us can be there to hear and actually see the problem that comes up. By using the service manual, tech info on the site and the answers people give you, you can then make a good guess as to how to repair your car best. Just relying on answers here may not help all the time. That's because what you call a ping noise, someone else may call a knock, etc. People have different terminology for describing things. When its different you may get a wrong answer and you won't know that without a service manual. All that said, welcome to the board and have fun with your car. And..........when the need arises, ask the question. The guys here will give you all sorts of help when needed, if they can. And, they may even give you a little bit of a hard time, all in fun once in awhile. Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Yeah, but then there are guys like me that knows something is on the links page, but I don't get recognition of being dumb unless I ask my questions here. Tony C Quote
Alaska48 Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 Knowing something is on the links page and just reading it isn't quite the same as having someone type their own version of it.... Its a more personable experience.... but I guess people aren't into that on this forum... Its kind of like going to the parts store and you ask the guy behind the desk a question instead he tells you to go look it up in the parts book..... where's the love????? Quote
TodFitch Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Yeah, but then there are guys like me that knows something is on the links page, but I don't get recognition of being dumb unless I ask my questions here. Tony C And you give people like me the opportunity to show how dumb we are by giving out wrong answers. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Knowing something is on the links page and just reading it isn't quite the same as having someone type their own version of it.... Most of the stuff on the (as you say) links page (actually it is the main page supporting this forum and this forum is a small link on that page) was typed by a real person and is there version of a fix to most common problems. My point is a lot of the answers to questions you may have can be found there. Personally I would rather find the answers to my issues myself and use questions to others as a last resource. This folks on this forum are the best resource for the car you have acquired. Best to listen to what they have to say than to tell them what you want them to say. Just my old man rambling experiences. Quote
David Maxwell Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 ...part of the problem is the expectation we all have from our experience on other sites. I think you'll find that once you check out the profile pages, you'll see that they are or at least can be quite personal and filled with "the love". Like anything else, it's only as good as you make it and can be easily forgotten if we don't take the time to revisit it on occasion. For that reason I am attaching a pic of mine. It's a different pic than the one in my profile and I played around with a filter in Photoshop to freshen it up for anyone thats seen it before. Hope you enjoy it and continue to visit the forum. Great bunch of old car nuts here!! ..... where's the love????? Quote
David Maxwell Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 ...having the "alien gray" paint lol! I love the Gunmetal and Airwing Gray that was used on the P15s. I gave a lot of thought to painting mine that color. Nice! Here is my 1946 P15S four door taken on my recent trip to Roswell NM. Quote
bigred48 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 speaking of colors, does anyone have a marine blue p15? this is the original color of my car. and since I can never pass up an opportunity to post my car on the board I've added a picture as well. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Hmmm....here's a shot with no wire wheels or caps or skirts....kinda like it might have been in the older days. Quote
TodFitch Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 I guess I ought to post a photo (or two) that aren't on my profile too. Since everyone is showing exterior shots, I'll do an inside looking out shot. Quote
