motoMark Posted May 10, 2023 Report Posted May 10, 2023 I'm glad I haven't yet had the opportunity to do so, but will a properly functioning and adjusted 4 wheel drum car lock up it's brakes? There have been a few times I've had to make a hard stop due to traffic conditions, but not hard enough to lock em up. Just wondering. Quote
Ivan_B Posted May 10, 2023 Report Posted May 10, 2023 Are you referring to braking so hard that the wheels stop rotating and skid, or rather the condition where the brakes get stuck and would not release the wheel? Both can happen with drums, no problem ? Quote

D35 Torpedo Posted May 10, 2023 Report Posted May 10, 2023 Drums are actually more efficient than disks....until they get hot. Any braking system should be adaquate enough to lock up. Our old school drums included. 1 Quote
keithb7 Posted May 10, 2023 Report Posted May 10, 2023 Yup. My brakes are in good, property adjusted condition. Single master cylinder. Stock system throughout. I don’t have concerns. My cars travel at the same speeds they engineered to be driven at in 1938. Quote
DJK Posted May 10, 2023 Report Posted May 10, 2023 Yes, one time a lady pulled directly in front of me, scared the crap out of me, but was very thankful to avoid a miss hap. Quote
