DJ194950
Sure would be fantastic if we in central Calif. were to receive lots of rain between now and stop maybe a week before the picnic then into the mid 70's. ? DJ

48Dodger
LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY!!! I'm working hard getting the place ready. Get your list of parts ready, get the truck ready, and bring a friend! If you have to bring an "off brand" friend, remind them they don't have to hide their hidden love of Old Dodge Trucks here!!! 48D

CYA There! 48D Sadly I'm going to have to cancel my plans for attending this year. As of today none of the sheet metal has been repainted due to weather and other associated issues trying to paint in cold weather. It's just been to cold and humid to paint. If the painter had a fully heated shop 24/7 it wouldn't be a problem but that's not the case so no painting until early next week. Paint isn't the only concern, the price of diesel is also a factor. At todays diesel prices I'd have to get a mortgage on my house to pay for the fuel. 5,000 miles at maybe 12 mpg avg....I'll let you do the math. With luck by this time next year I'll be retired, fuel prices will be down, the world will be sane and the truck will be done. Those conditions would make for a fun trip If the barbecue is on next year there is a much better chance that I'll make it. Y'all have fun

Brent B3B
Well shoot Brad, I was hoping to “hot rod” you around the track in my one ton.... speaking of suds, I washed the one ton last weekend (the “day” it was dry) and Julie just laughed and laughed at me ? I guess she found humor in me washing a rusted/ dented truck..... It’s all good though, I removed the passengers side visor ? can’t wait! Bluzhog53
My plans were to be there this year Tim but unfortunately my Mom passed away this last week and things are kinda crazy right now. We have services this weekend but I really don’t know what is going to be happening the next couple weeks. I REALLY need a break like this right now but gotta take care of business first so we’ll see what happens. If anything. Save me a dash plaque buddy, I’ll be there in spirit! 48Dodger
The BBQ will be awesome this year…!! ...Its a gathering of world travelers and Mopar "know- it- alls" (lol). A place to say “hey” to vintage trucks, cars, and the old guys who love them. When the event is underway, a few forum names would come up....some asking questions like "wonder what he's like?" "wonder if he'll come out next year?" or "wouldn't it be great if that guy was here, I'd like to talk with him". Each year I give out an award to someone who symbolizes the fun of meeting a person known only from the internet, someone you’d hope would be at the BBQ. It's what created the "Wish You Were Here" award. An award that reminds everyone on the forum, no matter where you're at, you're invited!! Past winners: 2008 Don Coatney (we'll meet again my friend) 2009 Merle Coggins 2010 Hank aka HanksB3B 2011 Ed aka Young ED 2012 Bud aka Budstruck 2013 Tim Adams aka Plymouthy Adams 2014 Mark aka ggdad1951 and Davin aka Desotodav 2015 Joe Hanely aka 52b3 Joe 2016 Dave aka Dave72dt 2017 Rob aka Dodge4ya 2018 JB Neal 2019 Todd B 2020/21 GTK Webmaster Sometimes I bend the rules. The idea of this trophy is to acknowledge someone for their impact on the hobby and wish they were here at the BBQ to meet those they may have helped. This time, someone who has worked very hard to be at the BBQ, has make several of them over the years, won't be here this time. He has driven, flown and maybe even hitchhiked for all I know. The fact is, he called a few days ago...Hat in hand, and informed me he had to change his plans and not make the BBQ. It was understandable, but tough to hear. I've made friends through this site and this simple event I hold every year. To not have someone I consider "a regular" hit me kinda funny. I look forward to seeing my friends every year, surrounded by old trucks. I look forward to catching up. I look forward to spending the weekend with like minded friends. But this man is genuine, a good dude....and if he can't make it, I will understand. But to be sure, it will be great to seem him next year or if I can make the drive from California to Minnesota in the fall. "Wish You Were Here Award" • 2022 Jeremiah Johnson • Congratulations Sir!!! Look for your trophy in the mail my friend. 48D
