greg g Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 There has been several threads lately about driving long distances in our cars. With that in mind, how far have you intrepid souls gone in you old MOPARS???? Round trip figures hopefully...... Quote
blueskies Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 3,301 miles was the biggie for me, but I've done several 1,200-1,500 trips prior to Tulsa. I'd do it again tomorrow if I could carve out the time... Pete Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Can I add Tulsa and North Carolina together:confused: Quote

Don Coatney Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Don, don't forget the fact it made it to my house in Georgia Not only that Tim but it made it all the way back home too. Then there was the trip to northern Ohio and northern Indiana. Quote

PatS.... Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 I haven't driven mine a foot. Haven't sat in it while it was moving. But I DID pay $40 bucks to have it towed 3 blocks!!!! Next Year Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 and you stayed at a holiday inn last night... I have not driven most of my cars..care not to even worry about that...least of my concerns...you get a car of the body style you want, or condition you looking for..do what you wish to get the body and interior as you need it..making them run is not a problem...running a flathead is not mandatory for me either... Heavy Flat Head Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 I am in the no moving mode, but I sit in it and go Vroom, Vroom. We plan on loading her up and going across country in her. Our youngest girl drools over driving the car and she is 12. She also is in on helping the father (why that is me) work on her. 90 % of doing this car is watching her get worked up and she never quits asking question. After she and her sister came to us she was 3 years old. We had a 52 Dodge that I went out one day to tune up; she pushed me out of the way and said I was too old. She would change the plugs, so I loosened them up and she pulled them out. The smile on her face was worth all the grief we have went through raising these two special girls. Sorry I kind of go a little over board on both my car and kids. It is heaven. Quote

Guest rockabillybassman Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 I drove mine two miles from the old house to the new house! Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 We're not worthy, we're not worthy... Pete; Yes we are! He drove his jalopy caddy to Tulsa when we drove our race cars. Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Well...never more than a couple hundred miles round trip but over a 10 year period driving to and from various job sites I've put about 20K on my rebuilt (Kragen Auto) 251 Chrysler flattie installed in Ole Yeller without any problems other than a failed starter just this year. It seems to run on and on and on just like that last sentence. Quote
TodFitch Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Not very far recently, only about 600 or 700 miles round trip for the longest trip last summer. But back when I was a young wippersnapper I drove the 1933 from Baltimore, MD to Tucson, AZ via Twin Lakes WI, Dallas TX (about 2850 miles). That same summer I drove from Tucson to Reno NV, San Francisco, San Diego and back to Tucson (about 2050 miles). Finally there were a couple of round trips between Tucson and Los Angeles when I moved there at the end of the summer (about 2500 miles for two and half round trips). I guess that summer was good for about 7000 miles. I am pretty sure the car can still do it. I am not so sure about myself. . . Quote
Tony Cipponeri Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Well, Like always I miss under stood the question, if your talking I should have checked the 600 mile one, but I checked the 200 too300 one. Tony C Quote
De Soto Frank Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 My longest trips were about 200 miles each way ( Wilkes-Barre to Balto & back) in my '48 New Yorker. How about this: I put nearly 40,000 miles on that unrestored New Yorker between about 1988 and 1994 ( six years )... Pretty much treated it as a daily driver, and after the first year of ironing out bugs from its 20 year nap in a field, it was pretty much a "gas, oil, and tires" car. It was great. Dwight Pectol Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I have made a couple of trips of 600 to 800 miles in the last few years. I drive my car everyday and in the last 4 1/2 years I have log over 33,000 miles. My last trip was from St. George Ut. to Death Valley California about 800 miles round trip. Love the open road:) DW Quote
Normspeed Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I mostly use mine as my weekend driver, and I guess I've put on maybe 5,000 miles in the 3 years I've owned it. So far the most frequent round trip has been up to a mountain lake in Riverside County, 200 miles round trip, pulling my teardrop. I've made that trip several times. Quote
eric wissing Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I wish I was racking up some miles on mine. The longest drive I have had is 80 miles. I think I completed my disc brake conversion but when I went to test it the car wouldn't start. I think It is the gas line. I mis-ordered the line 1/4" instead of 5/16". I am waiting for a 5/16" tube bender to show up at my door. Real life sure gets in the way too. I have been re-roofing my house. God that sucks!. I wrenched my back. You would have thought carrying the shingles up would do it but it was using a fork removing the old shingles. Advil and heat packs did nothing for the pain so I just went back up and started doing it. I thought about GIs in the Prison camps (been watching the WAR) and figured they didn't let a little pain stop them. This is my last time doing it!! I will pay someone next time. Anyways. I want to drive my car before the snow flies. eric Quote
Jeff Ivan Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I checked the 101-300 miles. Don't trust the old clutch to go much farther, any direction from here is hills. Have put on approx. 2400 miles in last 4 summers driving mostly local, have put on 225 miles or so in one day more than once without going more than a 75 mile radius from home. The more parts I replace, the more trustworthy she feels! Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I just noticed Norm (Norms Coupe) has not posted his round trip mileage in this pole. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I just noticed Norm (Norms Coupe) has not posted his round trip mileage in this pole. Don, there's two reasons for that. 1) There is no place to vote listing my mileage range. 2) It's not important to me as to how far I drive it. I drive it when and where I feel like driving it. I'm not trying to win a contest on distance traveled, or how much I drive it. I was wondering when you were going to notice that I didn't vote. You must be slowing down. It took awhile. Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Norm; Thought you knew that he who drives his car the most before he dies......wins:cool: Greg went to all the trouble of giving you a special (end of driveway and back to the garage) catagory in this poll. Least you can do is vote. Quote
