61farnham Posted March 25, 2018 Report Posted March 25, 2018 Hi all, Finally got some time to tackle the leaky core plug in the rear of the block on my P15 and got everything stripped out by the end of the day. I was wondering if the smaller plug to the right of the large leaky one in the pic below is in a cooling passage or oil gallery. I'll replace them all while i'm in there just curious before I dug them out. Thanks.......... Simon. Quote

That being said.....one may do to their car as they please, following my advice is certainly up to them. what you say is true, one can do as they wish....but I got to admit at looking at the two blocks I have here for easy access to these locations...there is not enough lip remaining for a second welch plug to effectively seat and seal once one is installed....I can only guess you getting very thin welch plugs for use... Andydodge Posted March 27, 2018 Report Posted March 27, 2018 Frank..........not trying to upset the applecart but how do you instal 2 welch plugs?.......I would have thought that once you install one by dimpling the centre there would not be enough room around the edge for the 2nd welch plug to properly grip and by firmly tapping the 2nd one in the centre you may loosen the 1st ones grip into the edge of the hole.............happy to be told I'm wrong tho' just have never heard of using 2 plugs.........here in oz I only ever replace any welch plugs with brass plugs, mild steel is a false economy...............regards, andyd 2 Quote
