knuckleharley Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 I don't know, but I definitely remember seeing one a couple of decades ago. Good thing I didn't see it yesterday or I wouldn't be able to remember even seeing it. Quote
dpollo Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) If that is a nut on the bottom, then it is the front body mount stud 49-52 possibly others.after a second look, I am not so sure. Maybe a lug bolt for the dual wheel ? Edited November 16, 2016 by dpollo second thought Quote
DrDoctor Posted November 16, 2016 Report Posted November 16, 2016 Well, to me it looks like a lug bolt, too. But, I’ve never seen one with a groove between the tapered shoulder and the hex-head like the one in the photo. In any case, it’s definitely interesting, and I’m really curious as to just what it is. Thx . . . Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 17, 2016 Report Posted November 17, 2016 1960 Oldsmobile had lug nuts like that to hold a spring loaded wheel cover. I recall it being a real bear to get off, easy to get on. Quote
greg g Posted November 17, 2016 Report Posted November 17, 2016 Spare tire retaining bolt, the slot holding a slip on centering flange???? Quote
wayfarerstranger Posted November 17, 2016 Author Report Posted November 17, 2016 (edited) It is for the spare tire , this one is for a 1949 Plymouth Woodie Wagon and it take 3 , spare tire is in the tail gate this lug bolt / screw would be the same on any of the 49 - 50 Dodge , Plymouth , Desoto, Chrysler wagons with the spare tire in the tail gate . and maybe other year Mopar wagons too ? If anybody runs across any i could use a few . Edited November 17, 2016 by wayfarerstranger Quote
plymjim Posted November 17, 2016 Report Posted November 17, 2016 Could it be a special bolt to seal the o rings in a p15 transmission? Quote
Andydodge Posted November 17, 2016 Report Posted November 17, 2016 (edited) Is that bolt the one that is sort of a "captive" bolt that is one on the bracket that holds the spare tyre hard against its recess?........oops..........seems like others had the same idea the same time as me.......lol.........andyd Edited November 17, 2016 by Andydodge Quote
