Draft card poll. Thought I would start this poll after the question was brought up on another thread. Probably could have added more questions such as enlisted without waiting on the draft but if you have more questions and/or answers post them as responses to this thread.

I do remember having to register for it when I turned 18. However I don't know that I ever got a card.

...due to the hostage crisis in Iran.

Interesting that it started back. I dont remember that. Got out of active duty in June 79 but still was inactive the next two years and remember that I was wondering if they were going to call me back because of the hostage crisis. Learn something new every day, forget something every other minute.

I got mine in 73. Don't know what happened to it. The year before was the last draft. Few were taken but had an older friend who was called up. Our Dad was Pro War but then in the next breath said you better get good grades or you'll be over there. Never could get my head around that. Only 3 channels and everyone had the same news sources. You didn't have to like them but you could argue with the same facts Lies?). Now it seems people watch shows that tell them only what they want to hear both Left and Right. Change is the only thing that remains the same. Eric

I didn't burn mine but I did destroy it. It went thru the washing machine a couple of times.:eek: My Draft status changed from 1A to 1Y when my fiance informed me that I was going to be a dad. That was in 67 and I had already passed the army induction centers physical and was stamped "good to go".

I still have an 18 year old daughter at home 40 YEARS LATER ! :mad:;)

I don't know what happened to my draft card. I drew 315 in the draft lottery, thank God.

What's this got to do with post-war Mopars? My draft card was Muscle-car vintage.

I dodged the draft before getting a draft card.:) Didn't even register for the draft when I was 18. Was easy to do. Just volunteered before I was eligible for the draft. Spent 6 years active duty. On discharge was given a full discharge without any inactive reserve status due the fact I already served my 6 years. Then on discharge they finally gave me a draft card. Was 4 something, so if they ever did draft anyone I would be among the last to be drafted, just before 4F. Don't know where the draft card is now, probably along with my DD214.

I was 4A (was that the designation?) after high school and got

bumped up to 1A after college. But before the Army got me, I joined

the Navy. I got a low number (59, I think) in the first lottery

(December '69 ?), but by then, I was already headed to the Navy.

My problem was that too many of us were in college in California, so it didn't matter what your draft status was. I was taking 18 units at a Junior College when the draft board invited me to come in for a physical exam; I decided that it was a good time to join the Navy Reserve!

I ultimately spent two years on active duty, including one deployment to Yankee Station, but never got within 40 miles of anyone shooting anything, so mission accomplished.

Reg;

Suggest you study do a bit more math study or get a new calculator:D Somepen dont add up:confused:

It's really quite simple Don. Marriage #1 resulted in 1 daughter, Marriage #2 resulted in 3 sons,and Marriage #3 (the charm) resulted in 2 daughters. 40 Years !!!!
