LAKOTA169 Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 Had a minor "procedure" done this morning. I had a 14mm kidney stone removed. They used the sound wave thing to do it. They did 2400 shots to break it up. Back home by 2pm feeling great. Even stopped for a pizza on the way home. I was hungry and thirsty (no food or liquids before surgery). Still feeling good, with no pain so far. 3 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 at least you didn't shoot your eye out....glad all went well... Quote
1940plymouth Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 Glad you are home and feeling better Did the pizza have bacon, onions, and peppers along with pepperoni? Quote
DonaldSmith Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 (edited) As the wise men say, this too shall pass. Much easier to zap the stone into a million pieces than to pass it whole. (Ouch!) Think giving birth. 14 millimeters - more than a half inch. Much larger than the occasional boulder I find in my shoes. Glad the procedure went well. Jeff Balazs Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 Consider yourself extremely lucky. Passed them 3 separate times. The term "a world of hurt" doesn't do the experience justice. Last time on the way to the ER I begged my wife to pull over so I could get out.....then she could run me over. I wasn't joking. Quote
LAKOTA169 Posted September 28, 2016 Author Report Posted September 28, 2016 They put a stent in when they first found the stone. It's still in for a little while to help the "flow". I have to filter it and save any of the stone that might come out so the doctor can check it. Thinking about going out in the garden and getting some gravel to drop in there. So far, I haven't felt anything. 1 Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 A long time friend also had a stone stent installed a few years ago. Was supposed to be a short time stint but the doctor forgot about it. Past year he had severe pain. Once the stint was removed the pain was gone. Don't let this happen to you. Quote
plymouthcranbrook Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Happy to hear all went well. Having once passed a very small bladder stone I sure can commiserate. Quote
rb1949 Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Good work "Rocky". Passing a small one is not pleasant. That pizza would have had Anchovies. I'm keeping 3 doctors in new cars now. Makes one wonder about ability to do jalopy hobby. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 oh man you ruin a good pie when you get the DITCH MINNOWS Quote
DJ194950 Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 If I had to choose between anchovies and ditch minnows - I'd get the ditch minnows! Sure they do Not taste like a pile of pure fishy salt! But that is my choice. DJ Quote
rb1949 Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Thanks to my Dad we acquired the Anchovy taste at about 8. Sunday morning at the kitchen table was time to stuff Green Olives with Anchovies, the gourmet treat in a good Martini. They served a lot. A little chunk will give you the flavor. DON'T pick up a salty filet for a taste. Just put a can on the shopping list. + Queen Olives. + Vodka/Gin. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 Yeah, passing stones hurts, but your wives will be more than willing to tell you it still doesn't hurt as much as childbirth... Glad to hear it went well, and that you're doing well, too. Quote
