Plymouthy Adams Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Was going to watch the mooner eclipse but we still heavily overcast....so I mooned mums and called it a night....hope you folks get to view the event Quote
BigDaddyO Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Plymouthy, as much as I enjoy your posts and pictures, I have no desire to see you moon anyone, much less mums. Hard to get that visual outta my head. Quote
BigDaddyO Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Had a pretty clear view of the lunar eclipse here for most of the viewing time. Impressive. Thanks Tim, for the reminder. I tuned in just in time for it. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Pretty cool to see. 100% clear skies.Just about back to a full bright Super moon. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 28, 2015 Author Report Posted September 28, 2015 Glad a few of you were able to witness the event...we have been overcast the entire weekend with frequent drizzling rain. Maybe I can see the 2033 rendition of the event. Quote
DonaldSmith Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 We were lucky to see the moon through the passing clouds. There would be bright areas of cloud, and then the moon would peek through. I was able to see almost the full eclipse, and the reddish moon, before the clouds completely obscured the moon. I was surprised by how slow the process was, compared with a solar eclipse. By the way, you can stare directly at the lunar eclipse, though it may make you loony. (Old superstition that looking at "la luna" would make you a lunatic.) It's the solar eclipse that you shouldn't look at, since it's never good to stare at the sun. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 I had a perfect view right from the living room. Saw it slowly get darker and darker and then look a little red. I think I was asleep by the time the full red part hit. The coolest part of it to me was how bright the moon was right before it started. Quote
lahti35 Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 It peeked in and out of the clouds for us... very interesting event! Quote
Don Coatney Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Was going to watch the mooner eclipse but we still heavily overcast....so I mooned mums and called it a night....hope you folks get to view the event So mums was able to observe your full moon. Please pass on to her my deepest condolences. Nobody should have to go through such suffering. I read your posting while eating my sugar corn pops for breakfast. Spilled my bowl and stepped on a few and it felt good. Then it occurred to me that I now know how a cerial killer feels. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted September 29, 2015 Report Posted September 29, 2015 It was a rather spectacular event here in Maine, not a cloud in the sky. I haven't experienced clear skies like we have here since we lived in New Mexico. Quote

Ulu Posted September 29, 2015 Report Posted September 29, 2015 Too much overcast here, plus we're still getting smoke from the Sequoia/Kings canyon fire, when the wind is easterly. I was out looking, as I'm normally out late in the shop, but no dice. I did get to see some meteriods falling back before the fires started. Our sky for astronomy is highly variable here, with overcast smog being common. But the forest fires have really ruined it. Quote
