My 52 B3B has a flip open key lock on the passenger door and nothing on the driver door. Is this normal?

Yes this is how they come . Never did  have left hand outside lock. Safety thing they thought.

Anyone ever noticed the vehicles of the late 40's/early 50's had the door lock on the pass side but not the driver side?

I had a guy tell me it was because back then you parked the vehicle with the pass side facing the edge of the sidewalk, and instead of getting out of the driver door into oncoming traffic, you would lock the door from the inside, and slide across the bench seat and exit the vehicle on the passenger side.

30s too and I wouldn't be surprised if they did it that way in the 20s as well.

If you watch carefully in movies made way back when you will often see the actors entering the passenger side and sliding across. But I don't think you will see it in films made in the 60s and later that are set in the 20s, 30s or 40s.

Thanks guys. I didn't know i could lock the driver side door by pushing up on the inside door handle.

Feel much better with both doors locked. This is a great site for this type of information.

I can't remember who....but someone was trying to get a hold of an Ozzy lock, and use it on the driver's side.

Did that ever happen, or did it fall on the back burner......

That's right! I remember now....

You realize after the zombie invasion, when guys get back into vintage trucks...say around year 2140.....your truck is going to cause a lot of debate about driver side door locks. :lol:

I put an Ozzy lock mechanism on my drivers door. Was an easy conversion and works great. Might not be stock......but sure looks and works like it. Thanks again to Davin. :D

You're welcome Jeff. I'm glad that it worked out well. A little birdie told me that Mark may be the next person to have one in a truck on your side of the world  ;)

Tim;

As far as I know it is the only one with "factory" locks on both sides. Should keep the zombies out.

SHOTGUN!!!! Which in this case, means I got passenger seat and a shotgun for the Zombies

Well now Tim we will have to clear this with my new dog. I would be proud to have you ride shotgun.....but you will have to let Buddy ride on your lap.otherwise there will be problems. :eek: He is small but he can be very "persuasive".

Paul;

While I get Tim's "priorities" .......Buddy isn't likely to be as understanding. The little fellow takes rides very.... very seriously.  I am pretty certain he is not going to put up with any monkey business either.

WOW, door locks to Red Neck Sexual Lexagraphy!. I would surmise that not many forums have members with such a range of knowledge. I'm impressed. (I think).

Hey! Who ya callin a red neck heh? Aint ya got no school learn'n Paul? First thing all us little guys here learned at school was ......all girls have cooties .....and they were to be avoided at all cost. And ya know what? that worked just fine for a while. But somewhere along the line this vital knowledge got lost. I bring it up as a reminder of a more peaceful and trouble free time of life. Heed the warning or ignore..... your choice. And if you ever get the chance watch the movie "A boy and his dog" .............but don't let the women folk see it. They just can't ever seem to see the truth in it.
