  1. Thanks guys. I didn't know i could lock the driver side door by pushing up on the inside door handle. Feel much better with both doors locked. This is a great site for this type of information.
  2. Thought my gas gauge was broken. Always carried an extra gallon in the bed. When I started to pay attention it turned out to be backwards. When the tank is full the gauge reads empty. Slowly heads to Full until my next fill-up. Sorry i can't help you except for a story.
  3. Thanks to everyone. I was wrong about the oil filter. The leak was on the passenger side where bach4660 suggested. Resolved for now. Still have a small leak on the push rod covers. The block did measure 23 inches. Do any of you guys run without an oil filter? Truck didn't have one when I bought it. Don't put a ton of miles on the truck but I think it would be worth the effort to find and install one. Really appreciate all the help and knowledge I have found on this site. Chasm46.
  4. Thanks guys. You have all helped me before. I appreciate the feedback. Chasm46.
  5. Don't know. Engine number T176.17494
  6. On a less serious note than my oil leak I am interested in mounting my spare tire on the passenger side truck bed. My under bed spare rack is completely rusted away. I have seen some pictures on the forum of side mounted spare tires. Any ideas, suggestions, or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Chasm46.
  7. PLEASE HELP. I took my 1951 B2D D126 to my mechanic today for a PA state inspection (Still use the truck as a truck so I don't go the Antique route). I had the water pump replaced and tried to fix a minor oil leak. I now have a major oil leak. Couldn't find a suitable gasket to replace the old one. No oil filter on truck but the leak was in the gasket where the oil filter would be attached. Any possible part number, part source or any other info would be greatly appreciated. I am not a motor head. I wish I were. Thanks in advance. Chasm46.
  8. Once again, thank you to all responders. I had the truck weighed empty on a certified scale. It came in at 4,040 lbs. Have not ordered the Don Bunn book yet but it is on my list of things to do. Thanks Jeff. Measured the wheel base to determine that I have a D126. Only single tires on the rear but the hubs stick out quite a bit so I imagine it may have had dual wheels at some time. Is this probable?
  9. Thanks guys. The B2D were made through April of 1951. I think my truck was built in 1950 but first titled in NJ in 1951. Any ideas on the front and rear axle weights.
  10. I am trying to find the 'unladen weight' and the 'req.registered gross weight' for a 1951 B2D 1 ton pickup. Vin plate missing from truck. Have verified VIN but need weights for PA registration. Thanks in advance.
