BobT-47P15 Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Saw this 41 Plymouth coupe for sale today at the swap meet we attended. It has a couple unusual features that, in my opinion, won't help it sell for the $24,000 being asked. It does have a Mopar V8.....and other street rod features. Here are some pics. Quote
Larry Leibhart Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Why would anyone do that ?????? Quote
DonaldSmith Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Well, I don't go for all those pointy things sticking out all over the place, but it looks like someone finally came up with a right-door mirror that lets the vent window open but still works. Ugly as hell, though. Though? Oh-oh, now here I go again! ... though through tough thought ... each word pronounced differently, (tho thru tuff thawt) ... I'll go back to my corner now and put a wet washcloth on my forehead. 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 a spiderman mirror does not a car make.. Quote
P15-D24 Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 "Continental" really doesn't work for this body style. Quote
Frank Elder Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 All that nice stuff he put in the car...even kept the drivetrain mopar.......then he just winged it on the outside. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 I wish I had the skill to do body work like that. I wish he had the sense not to do body work like that. 1 Quote

Niel Hoback Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Yes, I can't do that, and I wouldn't if I could. 1 Quote
BigDaddyO Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 I hope Ralph Nader doesn't get a look at that 'body work'. What are those things all over the outside? I thought they were Christmas tree lights or clecos. Quote
DonaldSmith Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Maybe the pointy things are to keep you from leaning against the car. I remember that in an old dime store the stair railing had a row of bumps, to keep the kids from sliding down the rail. I couldn't even slide my hand down the rail. I would have to place my fingers between the bumps. (I began to write "you couldn't even slide your hand...", but you probably weren't there, ya know. We say "you" meaning anyone. Proper speech would be to say "One couldn't even slide one's hand...". OK, lie down, damp washcloth on forehead....) 2 Quote
Captain Neon Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 I'm surprised that the seller's name isn't Mikey. Quote
RobertKB Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 I didn't think it was possible to make a '41 Plymouth look ugly, but I guess I was wrong! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 19, 2015 Author Report Posted February 19, 2015 Those pointy things were spikes. In my opinion, he would have been waay ahead to have simply filled in the holes. Some guys like things such as spikes, skulls, spider webs and other weird things....Definitely not a selling point to most people, I would say. Perhaps the continental spare would look better with the addition of a period metal cover painted to match the car. Otherwise, it would probably take a lot of trouble and expense to put the rear back to original. This Ford hybrid was sitting nearby........... 1 Quote
Ulu Posted February 20, 2015 Report Posted February 20, 2015 Yeah that's a bit overboard with the spikes. I had 6 chrome "bullets" on the trunk lid of my old Ford coupe. The garnish was missing & I had already painted the car, so I couldn't fill the 6 holes. I think I used Cal Custom chromed (plastic) valve stem covers with little stove bolts threaded into the back. I thought it looked pretty cool, but I was about 17 then. Quote
