Be vewwy, vewwy quiet!! We are hunting Northeast events. So it seems that the Colonial Region of the POC might be gathering in Burlington, VT on the above dates for a couple days of touring.  Since this event was not listed on the POC website or on the POC forum events page, I would guess it's a stealth thing.  Only mention of it was the POC Presdent's post on the POC facebook page that he is attending.  I wonder if the details were more openly shared if they might have garnered some interest from other folks in the northeast?  Rhetorical question?

I shared these concerns  with POC pres Larry Neusch on the face book page.

Seems they have accomplished their goal.  But they sit around at meeting and moan about not being able to attract new members.  Perhaps Groucho had it correct..."I don't care to belong to any club that will have me as a member"

It's been my experience that a lot of social groups really don't want new members.  They want more donors, and more volunteers.  When it comes to the fun stuff and being in charge, they don't want new people asking questions or making suggestions.  Just give us your money, and do whatever crummy task we want some one to do.

Well said.

To be fair you are aware of the club and have chosen not to join it. The membership should all have been fully aware of it as there was a full page sheet on this event in the bulletin.

Ed, just saying that the club has been concerned about it's trouble attracting new members.  If all information is kept close hold and published only in printed material, distributed to current members, it is not going to reach anyone outside those current members, unless those members are are actively recruiting other folks with an iterest.  Especially in this day of copy/paste reproduction of printed media to electronic.  And more especially when both the POC web site, and Discussion board have a dedicated place to post events and link them to information and registrations forms, and they go unused.  Even someone who stumbled upon the POC wesite should be able to avail themselves of info by clicking events.

That much I get. We have heard that its being worked on. It was something foolish about the guy in charge of updates thinking he needed permission to make them rather than just doing them.

although not a member of the POC and a user of their forum..I really do not see where I have any right or call to comment on the direction they chose to take..I have read and kept up with the running platform/promises proffered of candidates to know that it seems on par with all other form of politicking......lip service at its best..but I do visit the open forum...maybe comment once in a blue moon...too many threads on pictures of outings only and a car being spotted in India to be of any real interest to me, nothing really techy except for some mid 30's stuff....99% of the time I mark forum as read without opening a thread..but still there is that glimmer of hope for something of real interest to be posted...I keep my fingers crossed...

Ed hope that guy isn't a district attorney somewhere....Just so happens we are having our hard wood floors redone in the house on those days, woulda been a nice diversion to keep us busy while we are evicted from the house.  As it is we will be spending the time in our camper at a nearby site feeding the mosquitoes.

I joined the POC around the first of May. I got a membership card mailed to me backdated to Feb 28th and an old copy of a magazine. I wasn't given a password to join their forum and my several emails to the membership secretary about the backdating of my membership have gone unanswered. It seems to me that the only thing they're good at is cashing the membership checks. I doubt that I will renew may "annual" membership after this treatment. It is a small wonder that they're having trouble attracting new members.

Haven't got a clue about why it might have been back dated except possibly when the membership secretary was catching up on paperwork after he recovered from his heart attack this year he might have gotten confused about when various checks came in.

The poc membership secretary answered my email today. The backdating of my membership date is to facilitate their tracking of what magazine issues have been sent to me. A new member get 7 issues their first year and does get 12 months of membership despite the effective date on the membership card. He didn't answer me earlier because he had been away from home.

Interestingly, at least to me, the new POC president just posted today in the regional events area of the Plymouth Club's forum a request for regions to post copies of their events on the web site. I wonder if that was instigated by this thread. . .
