47heaven Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Hey guys....anyone out there have an extra glove compartment door latch/catch for a P15 that they might want to get rid of or sell? Lost my original a while back. Have been scouting ebay for a couple of weeks, but to no avail. Let me know. Thanks!Darin Quote
Tom Skinner Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Darin, Send me an email with your address Tom Quote
soth122003 Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 That's one the things I am missing on my '48 P-15. If anyone has an extra I would like to buy or trade for it. Also I'm looking for the plastic hood ornament insert. I found a few on Ebay, and some snot sniped me at the last 5 seconds for one. so if someone has an extra one of those for a reasonable price I would be interested in that as well. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) so you get sniped and the guy is automatically a snot.....lol....I snipe always..I hve not done a regular bid in many years...it is stupid to get in a bidding contest on e-bay..only the lister and e-bay come out on top...open bidding is the silliest thing since hiding Easter eggs in plain site...I would be happy to help you snipe...send a PM Edited March 28, 2014 by Plymouthy Adams 1 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 I too snipe.....always. Works great. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Bidding at the last 2 seconds (But not bidding all along). To feign no interest until the last second - not to bid up an item with others, but to pick it off at the end - thus sniping. Quote
Tom Skinner Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Darin, I sent you a picture of a Glove Box Latch Tom Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 sniping is great..it keeps the prices more in line with actual street value and not intice an early bidding war between a couple of hard headed people...lol I look, evaluate the worth, bounce across the need...establish my fair price and arm the sniper. If I get it, it was for my price...if not...no biggy, another will come around..and sometimes for even a better price. It is a slight gamble but if your pockets are deep...then bid big, bid often and back down from no one..else...take your loss with stride and go bigger next time. Ebay and the lister will love you..thank you, no....but will laugh all the way to the bank.. Quote
TodFitch Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 I haven't bought much on ePay recently but if/when I do, I simply bid the amount I'm willing to pay keeping in consideration that some sellers have very high shipping fees. Then I avoid looking at the auction until it is over. If I get an email notice that I won, great. If not, no problem as there will be another one in the future. Quote
soth122003 Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 To true. Sniping is a good way to get something cheaper. I haven't bid on Ebay in years and forgot about that trick. The guy I was bidding against had been bidding for a day or two and when he stopped, I thought he reached his price limit. There are other emblems on ebay ranging from $7.00 (bad shape) to NOS ones starting at $225.00.(out of my price range) I saw them listed at Collectors Auto Supply for $400.00. Oh well, as they say better luck next time. Oh and as for being a snot, It beats the heck out of my Ahole list. Snot being an annoyance. LOL Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted March 29, 2014 Report Posted March 29, 2014 I have an extra glove box latch if anyone needs it. It's from a 49 Plymouth but I would think it would work on other cars of the era. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted March 29, 2014 Report Posted March 29, 2014 Jim Carpenter is a hoser eh! operator of Collector Auto Supply---NOTE IMO only! Quote

soth122003 Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 Kinda off topic, but after the teasing of being sniped, I finally got a P-15 hood ornament. The nice thing is that the guy who sniped me paid $36 plus S&H of $12.00. I got mine for $9.99 plus S&H of $10.00. I guess it's true, good things come to he who waits. (or is sniped by a snot. LOL) Quote

40desoto Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 I hate Ebay Snippers! Especially the retired types.. The worse feeling when youve been waiting for the end of an auction and get stuck in a 3 plus hours administrative meeting just to come back to your desk and realized you got outbid!! LOL I actually do not have any complaints about buying on ebay. In my experience you find some great deals and love the 'Best offer option' For a Seller it sucks you pay a percentage of the final selling value plus shipping fees to ebay and also a percentage to paypal.. Recently paid about $49 in combined fees on a $290 item I sold. I could of sold locally for $245 and saved me the hassle of shipping and made a customer happy. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 reckon you would...keeps the bidding war out and prices in check... Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 I have not bought anything on e-bay for quite a while. But when I did I always armed my sniper ware with the highest price I was willing to pay. No need to get in a bidding war and do nothing but drive the price up. To me sniping makes a lot of sense.
