;) Sorry Paul but at this point I have this mental picture of you driving around with a big sombrero and a pair of bandaleros. You can call the truck whatever you want but you will always be "El Scorcho". .

Jeff..

How about El kabong

Update: (1) Got a bad battery so. . . new one then complete electrical final check, (2) El Scorcio'd wrist, (3) Trampsteer, from Costa Mesa will caravan with me on Friday,  (4) add one more piece of door seal, (5) complete check of steering, (6) tool box, (7) ice chest and food, (8) final run on Thursday morning early.

Happy Days are Here Again and I'm not a democrat, no offense intended on that.

" . . . the Phoenix looks like two different trucks Paul - when you compare the medium-rare side with the well-done side!" commented Desoto Dave.  Now Dave, consider: A woman also has two sides to view, which side do you suggest that God should remove?

... remove the nasty side!

I dropped in at work last week with 20 stitches around my left eye and a 'black eye'. My work mates wondered who hit me, so rather than tell them about my recent surgery I jokingly told them that my wife finally got even with me for spending all that money on trucks!

A couple of pics in Orange Cove

Well, now I know what to look for on Friday!

Don't look for this one in your rear view Paul. I had it painted blue and put on a Ford logo. Looks just like a Focus now. Stealth!

Sunday shakedown drive

(Glad your shakedown went better than mine! )

While on a short shake down, I came upon this yard. Had to stop and take a few pics.

post-34-0-35039400-1428035006_thumb.jpgpost-34-0-29868100-1428035044_thumb.jpgI rechecked my lug nuts.

OFF TOPIC:on a shake down came upon a city wide yard sale. Meandered through and found this for $25.  I've already used it several times, works like its Job Ratedpost-34-0-53775700-1428035150_thumb.jpg

Robert Burns, English poet penned a short poem about the little mouse who worked all summer to dig tunnels and build and fill storage rooms and a nest to rest for the winter. Then in the fall the farmer plowed early and all was for naught hense the line ". . . the best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray"!   So with me, I was headed for the gas station and three blocks from home the truck went dead.  A bit of testing and no fire through the plug wires.

When I had the truck on the hoist yesterday, I saw a different truck than what I had been working on. So am hitching a ride with Trampsteer in 90 minutes and we will journey together.  So will be at the Q but without the Phoenix, bummer.  Update in a few days on the problem. The last time I drove it up I hot wired it, maybe should have done that this time as well.

Don, so I thought, but I was wrong.  The problem is electrical suddenly no fire at the plugs. My best guess is that a wire/connector worked loose ( thus the case for soldering) and . . . I do not have time to find that one and then have another wire let loose down the road.

I could hot wire it and . . . I recall that you or someone in the recent past stated that there is a tool that allows one to solder without a soldering iron something like a solder iron / solder wire all in one. So will research this more on my return from the Q.

I don't know what tool you are talking about and I'm not sure why you'd want to avoid it. A standard soldering gun isn't that expensive and you can usually find good used ones at estate/garage sales etc. Don't worry PP they are safer than propane torches :)

cat nap...I still swear that cat is in the neighborhood and messing with things when PP turns his back...and he better adapt this thinking and stick to it as fact else folks going to start wondering what he is doing in that shop..

Well you gotta admit he lobs these opportunities right over the plate at regular intervals  I have tried to hold up on them...Lord knows I have tried.....but it's just too "inviting" most of the time. ;) I am certain that he knows I do it all in jest.

Hey! If you are afraid to throw the ball at BR, MM, JD'A, PR, Mr. October you will never be a SC, DL, OH, CH, BL so it's either pitch or swing away, but the pitchers get the win, not the hitters! Lol

pitchers get the win...hmmm....maybe it is time for the rest of the team to sit on the bench and see how the game plays out..always thought it was a TEAM pennant that got waved at the game..but then I don't follow sports of any sort....guess now it is anything goes..so TrampSteer is a pitcher also...clearly the win went to him this game..bazinga.....

Back to the truck! LITTLE THINGS, MURPHY'S LAW, Cat asleep on the engine!!!  Well removed the distributor cap, points were closed so just being curious I put the rotor where it needed to be and readjusted the point's gap.  Didn't have a feeler gauge, fire victim, so I used a match book cover.  BAZINGO! Started on the first rev. . .

"On the road again!"

Wiring update: Will need to repaint the fire wall. Will do that when I pull the engine to clean and treat the front suspension and under the fenders. Next winter project. And a pic of the truck up front.

Are you saying you got your truck running all by yourself with no outside assistance?????
