I promised to post some more pics of my truck.  This is just how I got her.  It appears other than a new paint job on the exterior most of the truck may be pretty original.  The paint on the interior of the cab is a little paler than the exterior...more a of JD green...not really too noticeable until you see the paint line between the two.  All in all a good ole' truck, just needs some love and attention to a few items.  As soon as the new pellet stove is hooked up in the shop I'll start in on all those little projects...the first of which has to be to loose those horrible trailer lights that someone stuck on for tail lights.

Nice truck!!!!

(you need to send me the speedo and gauges :))

I don't think they would look right in your truck, LOL!

How's things in the Evergreen state?  I have a sister and nephew in the Portland area...and I used to live in Port Angeles.

LOL :D

Things are cold! Today is the first day in a week the temp has got above freezing.

Love the Port Angeles/Sequim area!! We're headed up there next spring.

I've got a cousin outside of  KC.

My dad's side of the house are from the Joplin/Galena KS area.

jnicho, nice truck!

And Keven, today is also a day for rejoicing in Minnesota....it's above 0!   High yesterday was -4°F!

I had to do a double-take, but I reckon that radiator has been to rad.shop at least once, judging from the capped center neck and added on driver side neck...the radiator that was in my '48 was said to have come out of a early 40s Pontiac, as the original had been junked due to a fender-bender.  That upper rad.hose didn't line up with the t-stat housing either

I wonder if that isnt a car radiator?

Wheres the radio?  I see the speaker......

The radiator Young ed commented on is not a route van radiator, so it could most likely be a car radiator as suggested.

Very nice truck! I see you have an alternator instead of a generator, is the truck 6 or 12 volt?

All had the "speaker" just a blank

Actually , there is a speaker in the dash.

there CAN be a speaker...but I think they only got a speaker if a radio got put in.  Every truck I've picked has the blank speaker grill, but has never had a speaker.

Real nice looking Truck ! Enjoy the project.

Look carefully Mark. His truck DOES  have a speaker in the dash.

I see it. That and the generator tells us the truck is running on 12 volts, but you must know that already.  the other thing of note is that the doors are from the the 51-53 series. Your dashboard and grill indicates your truck is the 48-50 series.  Just one of the unsolved mysteries of your particular truck (we all have them).  It's a great truck and a lucky find.

I don't think that you can assume the truck is 12 volt just by seeing that there's an alternator there instead of a generator, i know they do make 6 volt alternators. A guy i work with has one on an old farm tractor.

I also see the speaker in the dash but no radio, thats interesting.

The way I see it, the doors have the longer crease which is correct for 48-50. The 51-53 doors have a shorter crease. His doors are correct for his truck.

I noticed the radiator was odd when I got it, but was not sure what it was supposed to look like, LOL!

Very cool to find one so intact. Looks like you don't have to do too much to be able to enjoy it.

Have fun with it.

Jeff

Indeed.  The truck does need some love, but it's all fairly minor.  Some interior work...brakes and steering...there are a few more drips than I care for so I'll try and stop up some holes with some new gaskets here and there...chrome is not bad, but I'll do some work there too.  Gotta loose the crappy rear lights, and i think the fender turn signals and cab markers will go too.  It is fun to drive though and always get's attention...but you guys know that I'm sure.

It is a 12v conversion.  When it comes to mysteries there is more to it.  The serials on the frame and engine seem to match and are what it's registered under which correspond to a '49 1/2 ton.  The serial on the cab however indicates it came from a '48 1 1/2 ton.  So it would appear someone has pieced some of it together at some point.

Very astute...there is a removable faceplate AM/FM/CD tucked under the dash.  I think I have found an original AM radio that I may install just for looks where the radio "blank" is currently.

Really, for some reason I thought the 48-50 doors went straight across and didn't taper.

I can admit when I'm worng,

Thanks Merle,
