D19 Is Coming Together

I'm closing in on getting my D19 running, everything is coming together pretty nice. I just put the front end back on and a friend of mine is coming over tonight to help put a new wiring harness in it, hopefully it'll run by tomorrow!

WOW!!! thats a beautifull work right there!! The duals with a great intake (offy?) is really sharp and will boost that motors output up!! Very clean job and those bullets on the rims bring me back, very sharp! Can't wait to hear it run.........................Doc.

Two of my friends came over last Wednesday while I was at work and got a lot of the wiring done, it worked out good for me because about 10 minutes after I got home is was ready to fire. Besides a few leaks here and there and the carbs and timing that still needs to be dialed in it runs pretty good, I just need to wire the dash and the front end and it should be ready to drive! I spent most of today messing with the carb linkage, first the gas pedal didn't have enough travel and when I fixed that the carbs weren't opening up all the way but after a few tweaks it's all sorted out.

All the problems I've had with this car have been totally worth it. I took the D19 out for it's maiden voyage today and I can honestly say it's the happiest I've felt in a long time! It still needs a lot of work before it'll be totally driveable but it seems to run pretty good.

They are fishtail tips, I was going to use them on a chopper project but they ended up sitting on a shelf for the last year so I figured why not?

I am eaten alive with jealousy.

Did your car come with fluid drive? If it did,do you still have the fluid drive in it,or did you swap it out for a regular manual trans?

If you did swap it out, what parts did you have to buy to make the swap? I have a 48 Dodge pu and a 38 Plymouth car 3 speed floor shift transmission, and I want to run one of them in my 42 coupe.

Did a little more fine tuning to the D19 and ended up taking it to my car clubs cruise in today, (I'm in the black shirt by the right fender). At the end of the day I put about 35 miles on it today and it runs like a champ. I also picked up that cool visor from a guy I work with.

Nice to see you, and other younger guys, participating in the old car hobby.

You seem to be making pretty good progress........

Thanks for the pics.........continue to keep us posted on progress.

A double WOW! I would love to see a pic of the engine compartment which shows how you installed the harness. Did you build your own harness or buy a pre-made one? The detail of how you formed the vacuum tube, etc is fantastic. I hope I can learn to be so precise.

I used the Speedway Motors 12 circuit universal harness, it seemed to work pretty well except for the generator / regulator because the harness is mean't for an alternator so I had to add a few wires to make it work.

Thanks! It's a Fenton intake, I also shaved the head .070, decked the block .010 and ported it along with a "3/4" race cam.

You ARE going to post a video of it running here so we can all hear it,right?

Once I figure out how to post a video I will, I was just going through my computer and I found some old pictures of it before I traded it to a friend for a year and got it back.

The D19 is now my daily driver, put a lot of miles on it in the last few weeks and went to the Rose City Roundup car show today in downtown Portland. It cruises down the highway at 65mph no problems yet! I found some fender skirts for it and polished the sun visor on it.
