speedyshark Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 Just wanted to ask where to get a good quality drum puller? I don't want to order one that I will use once then brakes. Prefer one made in the USA if they still make them here or does any one know if snap on tools sells one. Thanks Quote
desoto1939 Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 This is an excellent puller made by snap-on http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Blue-Point-Brake-Drum-Hub-Puller-Pat-18556-/251160122683?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item3a7a4f553b&vxp=mtr rich hartung desoto1939@aol.com Quote
Young Ed Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 That snap on puller is a great one. We have 3...... That puller was also over 300 new when snap on stopped selling them. Quote
Mike Petersen Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 I have the same one picked up for $50.00 at swap meet. Quote
speedyshark Posted October 6, 2012 Author Report Posted October 6, 2012 I see snap on still sells them, howeve they are made in china now and $185 for it. Guess would not be bad if it carries lifetime guarantee. The one on eBay looks ok if price stays under 100 Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 If I had a need for it I would hit the buy it now button and be done with it. Quote

I agree Don.....I bought mine at a swap meet...$40.00 in an injection molded case..have pulled 6 drums with it so far..yeah..it's not backed by a lifetime warranty but neither is it in a shop where the average user will not correctly use it.. plymouthcranbrook Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 I bought one at JC Whitney about 10 years ago for $25 that I and my neighbor have used several times and it still is in good shape Quote
T120 Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 A couple of others to consider - Herbrand 825 or Gray 827. Herbrand is US manufacture,Gray is Canadian. Quote
Flatie46 Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 I made one a few years back out of scrap, works good. I lucked up and found a piece that didn't require much machining. If you've got a welder, torch and drill you could probably make one. I can get scrap metal from work for pennies on the pound, maybe you could go to a scrap yard and do the same. There's a pic of mine if you search Hub puller. Of course it'd be easier to just buy one. I like to make stuff every now and then. Sometimes I do well...sometimes not so well. Quote
speedyshark Posted October 6, 2012 Author Report Posted October 6, 2012 Thanks for all the suggestions. I just bought an old blue point in really good condition with a total of three sets of arms, set of two and two sets of three, guess one set is larger than the other for $114 shipped. Quote
