It has been in the planning stage for about a year now and it starts Monday.

The 49 Dodge is going to pull a Scamp Camper on a 250 mile trip to East Grand Forks, Minnesota. East Grand Forks is my hometown and my neighborhood was destroyed after the Flood of 1997. They created a State Park campground by moving out all of the houses and diking around the entire area. The lot that my old house sat on is now under a 30 foot dike. So as the town celebrates its 125 year anniv, I will be camping out in my old neighborhood and the old Dodge gets to be in a parade on Saturday.

I only mention this because there is a Shriners Convention going on at the same time so there may be others visiting.

I did make it home from my big trip, about 275 miles each way.

I had a slight problem going up with a miss and a few backfires at 92 degrees so I figured that was a vapor lock, so I slowed down to 45 and the problem went away. On the way home we had a little rain and the screws holding my windsheeld wiper motor came loose and the wiper dropped to the floor. I was pretty close to county roads by that time so I kept going. Then backing into my driveway the truck quit running and wouldn't start so I figured fuel pump and we pushed it into the garage. I bought a new fuel pump from NAPA in stock and installed it today. The pin going through the pump arm had worked itself out so the arm was loose. Man, talk about luck.

Here is a shot of the campground and the parade. You can see the magnetic attached tail light on the trailer which have 6 volt led bulbs in them which hook to my 6volt truck.

Awesome trip. Just goes to show what you can do if you get out and drive. I too had the dreaded fuel pump pin falling out. My pump went about 15K miles before that thing finally snuck out. Of course it happens with my pregnant wife in the car on the way back from a doctor visit.......

Lucky indeed. The pin came out of my pump at a very busy intersection during rush hour. A kind samaritan towed me off the road and into a parking lot where I swapped out the pump with the rebuilt one I had under the seat.

Just found out that my Neighbor is tearing down his buildings on his farm so I've decided to list my truck forsale in the pilothouse for sale section.

If you know anyone who is looking let me know,

Maybe he's been storing at his neighbor's farm and with no place to store it...?

I'd help you out with storage if I could but I already have more iron around than the neighborhood likes. I have a storage unit I rent year round to store a couple projects in. I know some places take in RV's and boats for winter storage. Something like that in your area? Shame to have to sell it for lack of storage. Bummer!

For 170 bucks a winter the MN state fair grounds rents out spots.

yah, find a new storage place! If you do sell, I can vouch for it being a very nice truck!

Dennis;

You are bumming me out. Seems like a crying shame after you had such a nice trip with it. Adventures like yours and Dolly Dodges to name a few, have been a great source of inspiration to me. I sure hope it finds as good a home as it so obviously has had.
