Wife and I went shopping this afternoon and happened to park next to this. Here in MN seeing a volare that even survived yet alone appeared rust free is unheard of.

Hey Ed...I have gone to look at a number of these wagons but could never find one that was in good enough condition for the money being asked..I, being a wagon fan would like to have one of these but only with the V8...slant 6, just as soon have a dead dog..

Not a hyper pak .. but someone having fun with a slant 6 down under :)

A rare bird indeed. I almost bought a new one when they first came out and am kind of sorry I didn't.

Don't feel bad, my brother bought one and it put him off Chrysler products for life. They were going through a bad patch at the time and the car was nothing but trouble. He had it back to the dealer several times and finally palmed it off on a sucker (our father) and bought a Ford.

So, you didn't miss a thing.

well it was a also a different time in economics...working at a dealership in 75/76 era folks bought cars like Maverick, Pinto and Granada and expected a ride and confort like a Gran Marquis or Lincoln Town Car..the cars were not judged fairly as the entry level they were built to accomodate..folks wanted more than they paid for...the stories I have of not only a few shady business taftics of the dealership..but for every one of them there were 10 customers pushing for things to be fixed that were not on the original ticket..most would come if for a simple low cost task them complain how the shop tore up this and that looking for free repairs..this was a daily occurance...

Volare, oh oh

E contare, oh oh oh oh

Nel blu, dipinto di blu

E ci dice di stare lassu

E volavo, volavo felice piu in alto del sole con coro piu su

Mentre il mondo pian piano spariva lontano laggiu

Una musica dolce suonava soltanto per me

I like Newbomb Turk's version the best!

I've had three, all wagons.

The only "NEW" car I ever bought was a '76 Volare wagon. It had a 318, 3speed/Overdrive on the floor, PS, PB and AC, no radio, no luggage rack, no chrome. It came with body-colored wheels and bottle caps. $5000 out the door. I lost it a divorce and re-bought it several years later from a friend who bought it from my Ex. The second time I owned it, I worked at a junkyard and got a set of "Premire" seats (60/40 better upholstery). I loved that car and I miss the floor shift.

Maybe I could find a similar drive-train and put it in my 52 Suburban.:D

Almost looks like the one my parents bought, then we sold to my uncle. The only thing that comes to my mind when I see this picture is the line from the movie vacation: "If you think you hate it now, wait until you drive it"
