Yes those are where the casting numbers have been ground off. Also shouldnt a water pump turn freely? this thing will not spin unless you are turning it.

Last, with our water pumps with out grease fittings how do we grease them or do we need to?

I've done well with Rock Auto in the past few years, with one exception being a radiator for my 2005 Grand Caravan. In less than a year it started leaking where the plastic side tank attaches to the core (same as the original one did). They provided another radiator and then a few extra dollars when I complained, but then I had to pay my friend again to install it. I would still deal with them again.

the very items you ordered from Rock Auto can be had at your local store...further..if there is question ot fit and quality it is handled on the spot..usually with zero qustions asked and or if apepared to be S/H prob...new one ordered in..I always give my locals first crack to fill the parts bill..I so far have been very pleased..prices?..not enough difference for the peace of mind I get..

Same here. I have used their site for reference but have yet to order. I have steered a couple friends there for exterior mirrors after theirs got smashed off on those jumping garage openings.

You don't need to grease sealed water pumps, you couldn't if you wanted to since there are no zerk fittings to do so. Generators had oiling cups for the bearings but most that have been rebuilt have sealed bearings so oiling is unneccessary. Besides most people either don't oil or grease as recommended or over grease. Sealed in my opinion is the best way to go.

Also the water pump will not just spin over, it will take a little work to turn it as their are 2 seals dragging on the shaft. the numbers may have been casting numbers or maybe another manufacture built it and they resale them, no big deal. I have priced rock auto before and they have always been higher than others.

Is RockAuto now owned by O'Reilly Auto Parts?

If so, could the change of ownership have any effect on the quality of

the current parts? I like O'Reilly usually, as they are a "local" company,

originated in Springfield, MO back in 1957. But some stuff they sell isn't

always the very best, at least in the cheaper lines.

I've bought many items off rockauto and all have been good prices and experiences....but I always do my research first. If I can find it locally for about the same price then I go that route. Usually the smaller items, seals and such I've found are cheaper through rockauto.

I have use rock auto for a number of purchases for different vehicles. Yes they have more then there share of problems. I have received a wheel cylinder with no bleed hole, a brake shoe also with out a whole and a frozen wheel cylinder(piston was jammed in. and I am sure a few I forgot. However they do replace the defective item and will pay return shipping on the defective but sometimes you have to push them to get the return paid for. I think they basically drop ship from other vendors, as they add shipping cost for parts from different locations, so no real quality control . However I do keep using them as even including the shipping they are a lot cheaper then what NAPA charges me.

I use RockAuto whenever I need parts. I must have used them over 15 different times and only had one issue. I ordered a bunch of parts in one order and one was a carb gasket, the package for the gasket was with the order but the gasket was not in the package. I called RockAuto and they apologized for the issue and sent me a new gasket without any issues. They also asked me if there was a quality control stamp on the packing slip because they have a zero tolerance for shipping mistakes and they wanted to talk to the person who packed my shipment. All and all I would say that RockAuto is a great supplier for our parts.
