Mark,

I say start negotiating. I had a Dodge just like that one and it was a really nice car. I bought it for $80.00 in 1959:).

Printed out the advert - posting it on the fridge when I get home tonight as an ice-breaker... hopefully it wont turn out to be a jaw-breaker.

Hey Moose - you need this car now that you've increased the size of your family! Would look real nice parked in the barn of yours!

How big do you think my barn is? I've already got my new family car(50 Windsor) parked underneath.

And this is what I did yesterday. Maybe now people will stop calling it a rat rod.

Nice job Moose, looks pretty nice. What color is that? Not somethig commonly seen on rods. What are those wheels?

Are you sure you just moved in there??? Looks like the background clutter (for lack of a better word) has been there for quite some time.....

That's Rustoleum satin spruce green. The wheels are gloss black 36 Plymouth. The clutter is all mine-I seem to be good at that.:P

rattle cans or did you mix it and spray it?? there was just a thread on the HAMB about spraying the old enamels, and one fellow suggested that if you cut the rusteoleum or any other of the hardware enamels with acetone, you don;t need to use a hardener.

whether you cut with acetone or other high grade enamel reducer..these solvents/reducers produce a faster flash time over the base paint over using a mineral solvent as most would use when rolling or applying with a brush..even then on a warm day Rustoleum will start to set up pretty quick with the very slow mineral..however..using Rustoleum you still have a few more minutes to add between coats..though these solvents and catalyst give you a quick top flash..it take a few more minutes for it to gel at the substrate..you get to big a hurry and apply your coats thick..look for sags couple hours later..do not rush this paint..it is a remarkable product..it is not a production product where time is money..it does not flash like base coat does where the front of the panel is already set for a clear coat before you finish the back part of the same panel..

the hardener is a chemical catalyst it does as it suggest in the name, hardens the paint, you get better smoother finish, higher gloss and a paint surface more resistant to the elements, detergents, wax jobs etc etc down the road..

as a top coat finish I recommend a high grade enamel reducer based on ambient temp to what speed reducer you use and Evercoat makes a generic acrylic enamel hardener that is affordable and totally compatible...Classic Wet Look...and for the record..it is 8 parts paint to one part hardener..reduce for proper viscosity for the gun you are spraying...use of fish eye eliminator is also recommended...I have R&M brand fish eye here and one 16 ounce can has served me for over 18 years..just a few drops per paint batch is needed..

as with any high grade solvent and catalyst..the use of a respirator is now mandatory

Here's another thught Moose... Buy it for Henry! He'll be driving in 10 years and you'll have lots of time to get this ready for him! :D

Tim- thanks, but I let the guys at Rustoleum do all that for me, and all I have to do is shake up the can!

Mark- There is a bit of room, and Henry would probably like it, but my wife runs the money in this house... Oh yeah, thanks. I like the way it looks too:)
