NiftyFifty Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 So after waiting for 3 weeks to get pistons from ebay from Mad Dog Racing and them not responding to my e-mails until I finally threatened them with bad feedback, they find out Friday at 4:00 that my pistons floated around calif. for 3 weeks becasue Federal Mogul won't ship direct to Canada, but nobody told them that or was alaremed that they couldn't find a home for them with a Canadian address. Now today I have been watching a set of NOS pistons on ebay and placed 2 bids but some friggin jerk outbids me in the last 7 seconds and the time it takes to get the place another bid and confirm I lose them...what a stupid game people play....I'm so sick of this project after this past year I'm ready to send this thing to the scrap yard....anyway...just venting boys....been a never ending bad story with this truck this year Quote
Dave72dt Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Mad Dog must have been drop shipping and never actually handled the product. Mad Dog themselves should have been able to ship without issues. I' ve purchased from Canada and it made it to me with no problems Quote

NiftyFifty Posted August 7, 2011 Author Report Posted August 7, 2011 Sorry, 251 standard is what I need...I waited for 6 weeks just to get my engine back from the machine shop, then to find my pistons were 3 ring instead of 4.....I'm very dissapointed in Mad Dog..they decided to direct ship from Federal Mogul and never bothered to find out if that was possible..and very poor communitcation....sent 3 e-mails with not one response until my threat of negative feedback....then still they pissed around for 3 days Quote
Dave72dt Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Federal Mogul has a piston division located in Windsor, Ontario. I just have to believe they ship to and throughout Canada. I worked at a distribution center for another large global company and we routinely sent product to Canada and a quick turn around on orders was important. Good service makes for repeat customers. If Mad Dog could get them , your local jobber should be able to. Quote

Sure they can get them, at double the price...$59.00 a piston here vs. $27.66 ebay....parts up here are a joke...no reason we should pay a big premium up here for the same parts..I priced at Orileys in Bismark... $39.00 each...might have to make a drive... moparmonkey Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 I wonder how much it would be to ship them from California? I could ship them to you from here if you didn't mind sending me the money for shipping by paypal. You'd have to pay shipping twice though, once to me and once to you, not sure if that would be more cost effective or not. Quote

Thanks for the offer, but they didn't have to go to california...it was that the ebay seller didn't mark the box clearly enough or relay the message to FM well enough as they must have mixed up CAN and CAL..or something to that effect. I'll probably bite the bullet and order from my other guy...worst part is he has to wait till Thurs/Fri just to get them and then I'll be another 7-10 days to get up here.... Quote
PatS.... Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Call Roy at Bowness Auto Parts here in Calgary...he is a wizard at locating obscure parts locally. http://www.bownessauto.com/ (That's Roy in the pic above the phone number) I have 2 sets of 30 over NOS pistons with new rings. Quote

Mike@DRH Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 I checked my source in Minneapolis, they have them in stock. Your cost $25.19 each plus the shipping to Canada. Can go postal, postal is always the least exspensive option when shipping to Canada. Could ship to you on Wednesday. Let me know if you still need a set. Thanks Mike Quote

Thanks Mike Thanks...that sounds great..I'll let you know... NOW...I did get an e-mail from a certain place possibly offering me a set of free pistons, but I don't want to say anything more until I get everything confirmed...but I will let you know on your offer as soon as I can...I just want to get this darn thing back together....I can't even get a drive shaft until I get the motor in so that will be another wait to find a 1 piece that will fit or get one built....looks like I won't make the last local car show in Sept. either Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Sounds like you should be using an ebay sniper program so you can snipe the guy who sniped you. Quote
1949dakota Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 ebay proxy bidding. bid the highest amount you are willing to pay for an item, ebay automatically increases your bid up to that amount. that way if you get sniped in the end you won"t feel bad , because the item went for more than you were willing to pay anyway. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 This snipe issue has been beat to death on this forum before. But it is my opinion that it is better than using the proxy system. When using the proxy system you bid the higest ammount of money you want to spend on the item and sit back and watch as the bidding war starts. Someone wants to be the top bidder so they will place several bids until they exceed the ammount you entered for your proxy bid thus driving the price of the item up. When using sniper software you place the highest ammount you want to bid but this ammount will not be bid until the last second of the auction thus there is no bidding war. If you want to read a lot more on this issue follow this link. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=4482&highlight=snipe Quote
NiftyFifty Posted August 9, 2011 Author Report Posted August 9, 2011 That sounds like a better option...second time I've lost by a $1.00 on an item..and I know that's the incriments they go in, but both were in the last seconds and I didn't have time to re-bid. I didn't go with my highest right off the bat as I figured someone would just make several bids right before and find my limit,,,,oh well.. and now once again I feel like I'm getting screwed by this ebay seller...tells me he's going to fix the situation then dissapears again...SOB..no luck Quote
Young Ed Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 FYI there is a time limit on disputing the sale. I'd do it now and let it ride until you either get a refund or product. I got strung along by a seller once when an item didn't come and after I contacted him he said he was mailing a replacement. That never showed either and by then it was too late. Luckily it was only a 5buck item. Quote

I already got my Pay Pal account refunded...so it's just a waiting game now....they have till tomorrow to e-mail me and then I'm just going to buy a set...I don't care about the money..I just want a bloody set of pistons.... No wonder I'm going bald....I need a project next time I can just go to town and buy the parts for in stock Quote
