Yesterday afternoon I decided I would like a childhood memory for supper, so I went up to the store and bought some SPAM.

Growing up, my Grandmother would cook SPAM with eggs and fried potatoes for breakfast, and at times supper also.

Just a childhood memory that I wanted to share, and a good memory at that.

Hope everyone has a great day,

Bob

I shoot a Spam ever so often..my favorite is sandwich, fried, bit of mustard and nice slice of tomato...in the old days they were a bit harder to skin as you had to use the key on the bottom of the tin...at the base commissary where I do 90% of my shopping they have been out of the 'standard' Spam last two visits..plenty of the hybrid stuff on the shelf..guess I gotta get there just before military payday..

For me - probably a coin toss between a fried bologna or spam sandwich.:)

About 10 years ago on a trip to Hawaii I was surprised to learn that Hawaiians are the largest consumers of Spam per capita in the country (world?). We stopped at a supermarket and were stunned to find a whole aisle devoted to Spam.

Been to the Spam museum also. They had some neat displays of WWII stuff.

Ever try the tabasco flavor? I've got a can sitting at home waiting to be tried. The little woman refuses to eat it so I haven't busted into it for myself yet.

Ed..I stick with the original flavor..I find most folks do not properly season to my taste with the special varieties...somewhere about 1.5 years ago folks here in the south quit stocking Kale and Mustard greens in the can unless it is the "Southern Seansoned" sorry but my taste buds don't hail form the south, just here to make a living..that stuff is horrid...I do not normally go out to eat with the group at work here either as the places they frequent is nothing but salted hot grease..should go by names such as "Heartattack Haven...Grease and Gas Cafe..Oil Slick then you're Sick Cafe....when the pork chops, chicken and fish all taste the same..something is dreadfully wrong..

Hawaii is indeed the biggest Spam consuming state, and Alaska is the second.

In the lobby of the Venician in Las Vegas, they were selling cans of Spam with a label showing Monty Python and the Holy Grail for "only" $12. A pair of coconut halves was also available for the same price.

When I went to the ticket window to pick up our tickets, I to;d the kid in the window that "I Wish to buy a license for my pet fish, Eric". He didn't get it at all, probably didn't even know who or what Monty Python was.

P.S. I love spam. Cold, uncooked, with catsup on bread.

Sorry, but I'm in a rambling mood.

Spam,spam,spam,spam,spam,spam,spam,spam,spam,spam,spam............you'd think a Monty Python Museum would be more appropriate.........oh well...............spam,spam,spam,spam,spam,spam........I'm a lumberjack and I'm o/k...............lol........andyd

I believe that is the same as road kill:D

I believe they are called "paws" in china. I once worked at a chicken killing plant. Worst job I ever had. There was a "paws" line that I helped setup in that plant to send the feet to China. Supposidly these paws enhanced sexual powers. Did not work for me:D

Years ago my wife made Spam hors d'oeuvres for a party we had. No idea where she found the recipe. They were a flop at the party and I had them for lunch all the next week.

kinda off the Sapm but still in the ball park..at work I mixed potted meat with a tad of mustard and mayo for a dip that is great with crackers..actually the dip was disappearing rather well until I placed the namecard by the bowl..Possum Pate' dipping came to a screeching halt...!!!

Or a fried weenie sandwich on toast with onions and mustard--YUM!

I do spam and friend wieners the same way: slice, put in some onions, and tabasco or equivalent, and pan-fry:).

Indiana is the nations leading chicken foot exporter. Should we be proud?

When I went to Hong Kong, local folks would get a chicken foot and just gnaw on itas a snack. Not really my thing:eek:

I overhgard a girl in a restuarant saying she wanted frog legs..I immediately remarked she would never find panty hose to fit..

There are frogs in South America with legs as big as turkey legs. Those one size fits all panty hose would fit them critters.
