Bob, I hope you are OK. Just saw on the news that Joplin, Missouri was hit by a tornado and that there has been serious, serious damage to the whole city. Bob, I hope you and yours are OK! Thinking of you and hoping the destruction is not too severe.

I grew up in the Joplin area and from what I have been able to get from the news, talking to family still in the area, and postings by area folks on the HAMB, I think Bob's home should be outside of the tornado path. I am sure he has a lot of debris and maybe some wind damage but hopefully not a direct hit. Here is his home in relationship to St John's Hospital and Wal Mart that everyone has seen on the news. Bob is about 4.5 miles from the hospital.

From what I have been able to get the tornado would have gone North of his house by about 2 miles.

Hi all. Thanks for your concern. Mary Ann and I (along with her sister

and husband who are visiting) are ok.....spending the night at our

sister in law's home n of town where no damage. We went into the bathroom

and hunkered down. There are still some parts standing, but the

house will be a total loss, The Plymouth may have been lucky, as the

garage door wall laid down on the back of it.

top doesn't look too bad, only one rip I can see in the top.

The tornado went from the west side clear across the southern part

of town -- looks like a war zone......rather like Tuscaloosa. Any pics

you see on the news or the HAMB are correct - a huge mess.

Will go back over in the morning with a friend to see what we need to

do next.....hopefully can get some things to a storage facility which I'll

try to rent early as possible.

Sorry to here that, but glad you are all OK.

Wow. This even made the news on BBC radio here in the UK!

I heard it when I was taking my son to school this morning.

Glad to hear that you and your family are OK, Bob.

Good luck with everything.

Robin.

Bob glad to know you made it through. We had some here in Minneapolis too but everything was a few miles away from mine and the parents houses. Our news coverage was focused on local I didn't even hear about Joplin until read ing this.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your house. That has to be devastating.

I'm glad you and May Ann are alright. I can't believe the numbers they are starting to throw out for those who didn't make it. It's a horrible loss for the whole town.

The people in Joplin are in out thoughts and prayers.
