$4.36 per US gallon, in US funds for gas in the Winnipeg area of Canada. So gas is up by 30 cents per US gallon, or about $4.50 per tank

What store?

The store is Martin's and Giant Foods. They are the same ownership. You get .10 for every $50 food purchase plus bonus items each week that will get you another .20. They also have coupons sometimes like this week that if you spend $50 and use the coupon you get an extra .20 a gallon. It usually renews every three months or so and you can't carry over so you have to use it before the ending date. I got $1.70 off each gallon today on 30 gallons of gas for a savings of $51. The local Weis has a .10 for every $50 spent but no bonuses or coupons and only good on 20 gallons. Giant Eagle works theirs both ways giving discount on food based on gas purchases and gas discounts based on food purchases but I don't know the particulars.

Locally Kroger offers discounts on gas purchases but not nearly as good as you are getting.

Safeway discounts gas here too, say about 20 cents off per gallon with a gorcery purchase over $35.00, I happen to buy a lot of gasoline from Safeway or COOP stations

Well, why not? It seems a bit silly to be importing the majority of oil this country consumes while we have the capability to extract reserves we already possess.

I understand that there is much more to it then that but it just seems to me that if you get rid of the politics and the EPA, that would be a good start.......

Actually, we don't have the ability to extract enough fuel from the reserves we already have to satisfy out demand. Period. We've used most of it up.

We most certainly should be pursuing other forms of renewable energy. No question about it. I'd even support additional gas taxes to fund these endeavors.

In the meantime, why not drill and use what we know we have while pursuing and developing alternate energy sources?

I believe our immediate energy concerns far outweigh the risks to our eco-system.

Just my 2 cents...
