Thanks! However I must admit that my impatience lead me to weld the broken tab shown. Worked pretty well

and that one was the only one I needed to get the rocker moldings on. So, I've been drivin it a lot.

Next project is to get the three twos dialed. Discovered over the weekend that the cast aluminum fuel block for

the three carburator feed lines leaked,.....the casting. So a new fuel block and plumbing are the next tasks.

And, I'm not going away anytime soon :D

One of our guys clued me in to their location. I apologize that I forgot who :o

They connect the inner fender/splash panel to the outer fender at the rear bottom corner of the wheel opening.

In the process of everything else, I lost one and had to make a replacement. Haven't installed mine yet

Believe it or not,..I've not dropped off the face of the earth. Took a brake/break?? for several weeks and attended to some

much neglected responsibilities. Also thought I had the Plymouth sold but after a lot of jackin around, the guy flaked.

Oh well! The up-side is, I've not lost my affection for the car and even have a renewed enthusiasm for the next wave

of never ending details to be addressed. Finally got the rechromed auxillary/switch panel in place. I had to custom fit

both ignition and headlight switch assemblies as the ones that came with the Autowire kit were too large for the area where I

wanted them. The cigar lighter will now be a "power port". The remaining holes will have toggles to control the trans. shift points.

Don't ask about the trans. shift switches. I'm not ready to discuss that issue yet.

Oh yeah, the shift knob is genuine Duncan ;)

I also started fussin with wheels and tires. I like the Cop Car wheels but the rear tires are about 15 years old. I'm afraid

they might disintegrate at freeway speeds (that happened to a friend) so that's my rationale for exploring tire options.

I scored a set of Dodge Magnum 17" steel wheels for next to nothing sometime back. The idea was they might go

on the Forty. I figgered if I get new rubber for the 17's,.... I'd have two sets and be able to swap to either car. To my surprise

also, at 7" wide, the fronts had plenty of clearance all around. I will need to change the backspace on the rears however.

I'm also trying to decide about hubcaps. I know the look is not for everyone but here's where I am as of this afternoon.

15, 16 or 17's..the wheel bis not a problem except if too wide..7" is abuout all you want on a stock chassis and the profile (aspect ratio) of the tire is the deciding factor..I have never messed with steel wheels of 17 inch though..but I love the stock steels of the 96 Chrysler..these painted in argent silver also are nice rims..I use these for spares in some of the cars..and in cases of folks who may have access to the early 90's rubber face mags, simply burn the rubber off the face and you get a sharp looking set of steelies

Hey Tim, when you have nothing better to do, I'd love to have a pic of the Chrysler wheels. I'm always on the

lookout for OEM stuff 'cause it's usually cost effective and often gets that "I never thought of that" reaction.

Here's a pic of the dia. comparo. The 17's are only .7" taller. Width of 205 mm measures the same. It's tough to beat the

appearance of the Cop Car wheels but having new rubber (and another servicable set) may trump the Cops, for now.

here is the story as best I have knowledge...these wheels were introduced with the LHS platform cars and the majority of them had a rubber molded face of different designs..the steel wheel was only availalbe as a special order factory full size spare..got one still NOS in the 93 Eagle Vision TSI...later the first Intrpid police units used the steel wheels and they were available in black paint finish on low end vehicles and used hubcaps...a not so good online picture of the Intrepid wheel and small center cap...the ones on my 96 Chrysler are identical to this

the one pictured is the early LHS platform, 16 x 7....some of the later wheels, and especially the ones I will be using on my P15 bz cp are the 2006-08 factory aluminum wheels and are 16 x 6.5..but please Heed...MY CAR IS HEAVILY MODIFIED..and built to use a wheel that is positive offset 5.125 inch..there are a ton of late model wheels available with various offsets..you will have to do yur own legwork here unless you were to copy exactly what someone else has done prior..

I underscore Tim's warning. 'Though many of you understand the implications of fooling with non stock wheels and tires, some may not. There's a lot more to it than just bolting on different stuff.

Bill and Tim;

You both said what needs to be said. DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK before attempting any modification. Fully understand what you are doing! Nuff said.

I felt pretty clever figgerin out how to hook and unhook the hood springs. Upon installing the hood some time back, the only option I could see for hooking the bottom portion of the spring was a kinda horseshoe shaped slot that moved the lower hook fore and aft about 3/4". Trying to eyeball the geometry, I couldn't see that "fore" or "aft" would make any difference in tension for lifting the hood. So I hooked it in the aft, rearward, part of the slot. I don't remember which location was used when I took the car apart.

With that said,... I am now finding that the hood takes considerable effort to close,....much more than I remember and to the degree that I worry about bending something. The hinges, without springs attached, move freely,...maybe even a bit sloppy due to the worn pivots.

Please check the pics. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas or observations would be greatly appreciated.

:o The pics are of diff. sides. The forward portion of the slot is obscured by the return on the bracket.

..looks the same as my Plymouth bodied Dodge,(aft of horseshoe shaped slot) .My hood raises to full height, lowers without much resistance,(original springs).Piqued my curiosity and I counted the number of coils, maybe not significant, but on mine I counted 32...

I get 32 on mine as well and they are "hooked up" the same as shown in Suessbyr's pics.

Any other ideas???????????? Anyone?
