After a year long nightmare, I finally have my '48 Dodge D25 coupe back from the painters. Too many bad memories to repeat on the forum but at least the car is back and the paint is gorgeous; at least I think so. Slightly different blue than before but I like it better. Still lots of work to do to get it back on the road but at least it is in my garage and under my control. Anyway, here are the pictures.

It does look good, Robert. Glad you finally got it back.

Never know what sorta things you may run into when having an

old car worked on.

nice car robert, how long you think it will take to get it back to complete?

Michael, I am thinking I will have it back on the road for next spring. Lots of little jobs I need to do that I have been putting off for years. This last year was the first time in 30 years I have not been able to drive it whenever I wanted to. However, it really needed new paint and now has it.

Very, very nice. Reminds me of when my '40 came back from the paint shop. It was supposed to take 6 weeks to paint and it took just over 7 months. Took me about an additional 7 months to get it all back together. But worth it in the end.

Have fun with it.

Looks fantastic!! Can I ask how much prep work you did vs the price you paid to get it painted? what kind of paint system did you use?

Good luck!

Alex

This picture shows my prep work, just taking it apart. Body work, real prep, and paint all done by someone else. Car was painted twice as the first paint job had many issues. Just one of the pitfalls along the way on a job that should have taken a month taking a year. Oh well, it is home. I have driven the car for 30 years with bad paint and now I can hope to drive it another 30 with nice paint.........if I live to 91. LOL Family genes suggest I will.

Paint doesn't look too bad here but a friend and I painted it 30 years ago and it was a bad job then and never improved with age. LOL Also lots of little body work was needed.

Nice to see it back home RobertK it looks great you just can't put a time line on paint. I know we would like to. That's the way it goes. I like the Blue. You took it down to the metal believe it or not that makes it a little harder to do. I am currently repainting my 1941 Studebaker champion all original. We must take it down to the metal as well. Oh boy what's the winter for anyway right:rolleyes: something to do, Enjoy
