Robin (UK) Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 My son's class at school are studying the mid 20th century. They were each given a specific topic and he got... Transport! When they were asked to bring something in, he had an idea.... So, this morning, my wife and I dressed in vintage suits and hats and took our Plymouth to school. We also took lots of 1940s hats, ties and purses, so the children could try them on. And we provided music - The Andrews Sisters, on 78rpm records, played on an HMV portable gramophone. They all had a great time and the Plymouth was the star of the show! Quote
busycoupe Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 What great pictures! I'm sure that the kids will remember the car the clothes and the 78 rpm records. I have a jukebox that plays 45's, and I have found that most kids today don't know what the old records are! It's wonderful that you were able to give them, what I am sure, was a fun lesson! BobT-47P15 Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Now, which lad in the pictures is your son?? Quote
Robin (UK) Posted September 17, 2010 Author Report Posted September 17, 2010 Now, which lad in the pictures is your son?? Bob, Henry's not in those school pictures. Here are few shots from The Hot Rod Hayride, in the summer. 1. At the track. 2. In a friend's Buick Limited - Henry actually got to 'drive' this car round the car park. 3. With mum, at the end of the weekend. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Excellent!! Making good memories for kids is what it's all about. Quote
steveplym Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Very neat. Good way to keep the kids interested in old cars. Thanks for sharing. Quote
pflaming Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Wow doesn't even come close. I put one of the pictures on my screen saver. When I get my truck running, I am going to steal your idea and do a similiar thing for my grand kids. What a great, great idea. Well done. You ought to put that on YouTube. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 On time I took the convert to a pre-school operated by a lady friend of ours. The kids enjoyed looking at the car and hopped right in to try it on for size. And don't forget, kids come in all sizes and ages. Took the car last Sept to my wife's 50 year high school class reunion. These big kids had a good time too. Quote
