should i remove the seat covers? still has the original seat covering and looks to be in good shape ( except for bottom of front seat ). i'm amazed about how original this 49 is. i will never restore it because it will be this way only once. your not going to believe this, but it has less than 21,000 miles on it. not b.s. ing.

save the patina of that car....you wont ruin the original seats with your local driving..enjoy it..NOW.! re-live a wonderful era,! YOU can only do it once.!

I wouldn't change 'em unless they had holes or something, they're different I kinda like 'em. If your making it a period car or something I could see you wanting to change them but I'd wear 'em out. I'm with Don on the dice.

As they are just that covers, you could easily get another set made to go over these..make the car more period correct if you interested in making the car represent the low mileage original as you state..waht is the story on the rear arm rest? something just does not look right..

fuzzy dice is definitely a "personal" issue as seen in my old 49..interior is not stock colors..this one had a squirrel tail on the aerial also..when I advertized the car the wife stated both the dice and squirrel is required to go with the car, grand daughter loved them both..

There's a seller on ebay who says he has clear plastic covers to fit

Chrysler products of the 40s and 50s........here's a link to his ad.

They would show off the original upholstry and keep the worn place

from getting worse. If it were my car, If nothing else, I would replace

the current seat covers with something a little more plain to blend in

with the rest of the inteorior. Like, perhaps, solid color light grey.

Keep the dice, I have a set on my car as well. They are our local footballl team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. I bought some NOS seat covers off of Ebay that I will put on in the winter, I need to remove the seats to put them on so it can wait until winter. I will post some before and after pictures when I get them installed.

I would leave the covers. If you put nice dark blue panels on the doors that will down play the pattern. Then get a solid color throw blanket and small couch pillows (let the wife do this) and you might be surprised how nice it looks. If you don't like it, then change. I like a bit of whimsy/variety, even though I'm basically old school.

Or you could really confuse the experts......get hold of a rear seat back from here in Oz.......ours had a centre armrest and both front & rear seats were upholstered in leather........andyd
