Defining the perfect car......or how did the Forum change?

I am still in the make her safe part. I am hoping to have the D24 sedan on the road this spring. I guess you could say my perfect car is one that gets us home everytime. I bought the old gal from a guy that was just using her for parts then planned on junking the old gal. So she needs alot to get on the road, but I and my son are having alot of fun working on her. Would I like to get her back to "like new" condition, YES, but I doubt I will be able to get there. So I just plan to get her on the road again and go for a LONNNNGGGG ride with the family. AND SMILE!!!!

So I guess you could say my perfect car is a family car that we can all enjoy all year round with the old Sunday afternoon rides.

I look at all the pictures here and dream. I just hope I don't embarass everyone with my attempts in the process.

My "perfect car" goal is to get an full interior and a solid color exterior. And so far the only time I didn't make it home was after the crash. I did have a dizzy issue last fall and limped to a friends house. I could have probably limped another 15 miles home but it wasn't worth it.

How did the Forum change? In one months time we lost member #8 of this version of the forum to the good lord, and now member number #2 has been banned do to member #5598. Norm & Don we miss you guys.

Dennis:mad:

I was not aware that Don had also been banned, and I came to grips as a teenager that no one lives forever.

I believe the perfect car is in the eye of the beholder . At whatever state of repair the vehicle is in would warrant the owner happy of his prized automobile . Be that said automobile in full restomode , just a nice driver or even a trailer queen .

My perfect car right now is my 47 p-15 . It in no way at this point in time would be seen being judged just due to its current state . It has the original paint with plenty of patina etc . Just got the bumpers rechromed and new Coker wide whites put on over the winter . The interior is original with all the expected stains . So when anyone see's me cruising down the road with the biggest smile on my face , they'll know i'm driving my perfect car ... :)

I wonder if this was the right forum for warshaw? After reading a few of his posts I have the impression he should be in the bidders section at a Barrett Jackson auction competing with $ for the "perfect car"

Not a wise post for your first post, most people would go the welcome routine, not right into bashing member.

If you ever run across another one of those grilles,PLEASE let me know about it,ok? Doesn't have to be perfect, but does have to be suitable for sending off to the chrome shop.

Blueskies,I have to admit that I was never a fan of 4drs until I joined this forum and started looking at the 41-48 Mopar 4drs. Especially the blue one in your photo. Now I am starting to like them better than my P-15 coupe and the more I look at their lines the more I like them.

The perfect car for me is the chevy truck I take my girls for cruises in. It's just a nice driver and will never win any show trophies but seeing the smiles on my girls faces as we get waves and thumbs up are all the trophies I need. Someday the 40 plymouth I'm working on will do the same trick, it won't be a show winner either but we'll drive the wheels off it and enjoy it. I suggested to Mr warshaw that he not take car building so seriously because it wasn't about the best car, but after thinking about my comment I realized the great thing about this hobby is that it can be anything you want it to be. Some people are happy not owning a car and just going to shows, some can't own enough old cars, some want everything perfect, some are happy with a driver the point is it's up to us to decide that for ourselves and not be told by anyone else. Even though owning a flawless car isn't for me and would keep me up nights worring about it, if that's what Mr. Warshaw wants good on him. I'm only new to this forum (and to mopars) but it truly is a great resource I've learned a lot from it. The great thing about this forum and the people on it is their willingness to help out and share information and opinions but maybe we should keep in mind tolerence too. I know I will before I hit submit.

I try to stay out of the line of fire when two or more people have issues with each other. I think this is a great forum. I have been on many others - both auto and for various thiings - and this by far is the most friendly and informative. I have a '47 Desoto that I have been getting back on the road (see, I avoided the "R" word that caused some excitement not too long ago!) and I feel that any time I get stuck putting something back together, I can simply come on here and get walked through it. I want to tell how great an insurance that is!

And for the most part you folks are really nice people. I have noticed patterns in certain people's comments that are negative or combative, but as in life I think we should know when not to rise to the bait. My dad used to bait my brother especially into political arguments in the sixties, and my brother would fall right into it and an argument would ensue. Finally my brother learned to not take up the gauntlet when my dad baited him, and it worked.

This forum manages to stay pretty much off of the two no-no topics - politics and religion -and that's good. But people who like to argue or debate or feel superior will use any topic to their ends. I think we should all realize not to take anything personally. There are some great guys on here like Rodney and Joe Flannagan and many others who always are pleasant, upbeat, funny and have nice things to say.

Our motto should be "Leave Our Ego's At The Door" before we enter and there shouldn't be any problems.
